I'd give it 6 stars if I could. I got the stove free from work and thought it was cool. But I wanted the little heat deflector. Bought this one and it works like a champ.

A must have item for all Solo Stoves - the deflector really is a game changer.The deflector is brilliant, east to put together and makes a huge difference to the surrounding area's warmth distribution.Buy this for your Mesa you won't be disappointed.Be aware, it is directly above the fire so does get some soot on it, this soot does stay on the underside of the deflector and will make your hands dirty if you pick up the deflector.It comes with a great oversized carry bag which is big enough to fit the Mesa and deflector in together or I use it to carry enough wood in with the deflector for a couple of fires with the Mesa in it's own carry bag.

These work well, kicking the heat out instead of up. I like that it came with a second trim ring for quick swaps between the standard and heat deflection - the kids marshmallows also appreciate this.

I bought the twin pack of these Solo stoves at Costco and was disappointed with the heat. The deflector helps but doesn't make the stove a great heat source...but it does make it better and good enough to use.The deflector sits on top in what seems like a precarious manner but it works, and if not bumped will stay put.Wear gloves when using. The black soot buildup transfers to your hand, and then to your nose with ease. Not that I had an embarrassing experience with that at all. Look away...look away. Thank you.

Great addition to my solo stove. Catches the heat and directs it back down where it’s needed. Doesn’t effect the flame brightness or the effects of a outdoor fire pit..

We live in the PNW. We used our little solo stove to keep the 6 of us warm during chilly summer nights. It is also good for making s’mores and it looks really cute on the table top.

The deflector stands perfectly on top of the Mesa XL (not included). You remove the ring of the Mesa and replace it with the deflector (that has its own ring as part of the deflector kit). Easy to build, install and use. Disappointed about how quickly it becomes dirty with the flames (soot build up) - it is impossible to touch it without having black fingers. The effect of the heat radiating is not as strong as described. We used both wood and pellets and had the same disappointing results.

I have been waiting forever to buy this product on the Canadian Solo Stove site and no luck. i was lucky to find this on the US Amazon site at a decent price considering taxes, shipping and exchange. It is a sturdy and well made product to compliment the Mesa XL. It always seemed like a waste of heat now this is going to make a difference instead of wasting all that warmth. So glad to have found this and happy that it arrived within a couple days. It is the Solo Stove signature of a well made product. It even includes the storage bag for the heat deflector. You cannot go wrong with this purchase. Product easy to assemble and folds down for storage. Thank you US Amazon you are the answer to completing my Mesa XL in a fast and seamless purchase.
