Absolutely brilliant. The glassine pages inbetween are brilliant both for protecting pages from one another and also - if you do rather more than pastel - they can be quite fun to "clean up" the work beneath. The pages are *wonderful* and play well so far with watercolor, oil-pressed charcoal, inks, pencil, heavy erasing - they've taken no visible marks from extremely heavy erasing. The woven texture can be slightly intense for some media, but so far nothing is actually unmannagable. The size is nice, and the quality absolutely exceptional - the cover is thick enough to protect it and the back is extra thick and *truly firm* in a way that makes this a truly killer option for mixed media artists who like to travel - or even just, you know, draw in your lap on the couch instead of at a desk or easle. It's great, is what I'm saying. It doesn't replace everything else for me, but it's certainly trying to tempt me. I really couldn't be more delighted in the quality of this bloody thing, I've not been so pleased with a sketchbook I've acquired in quite a while. Really do recommend this brilliant little thing. Also, bonus if you aren't using something that sheds enough to require the glassine to protect your work: DOUBLE THE PAGE COUNT BABY two paper textures for the price of one. AhGods I'm happy with this sketchbook. Truly over the moon. I'll be eagerly looking to SOHO in the future when I'm looking for art supplies.

I've been using a regular bristol pad but this one got me excited because it has glassine over the paper which would help a lot to prevent smudging and transferring! The cover is also has an attractive piece of artwork. I got the 8" size and its great for me who is only a beginner with oil pastels. They do advertise that this paper can also handle wet mediums but that seems unnecessary since it has glassine. The paper seems to be pretty good quality. It doesn't feel cheap and performs well enough for sketching and practicing

I've never had oil pastel paper before, so I can't compare it to others. And I only have one small pack of oil pastels. I also tried out gel crayons, though, and even some gel highlighters I had lying around. Although I was just scribbling, I can see that things blend nicely and can look very smooth. You can see the texture of the paper where I just smeared a little bit of crayon. It's deep and catches a lot of pigment. It's very thick, and nothing even hints at bleeding through. I didn't try watercolors, but I tried a water brush and alcohol markers on another page.Anyway, for this non-artist, it's fun to work with and gets good-looking results. Or as good as I can manage, at least.

This is a great oil pastels pad. Not only us the paper really nice for oil pastels bit there is a individual glassine type paper between each sheet to protect your artwork from smudging! If your on the go or just don't have time to seal / frame every image you produce, this is truly the best solution. Spiral bound makes the paper easy to revive once your ready, keeping your creations neat in the mean time. Highly recommend.

Nice size sketch & paint pad to tuck and go in a bag when traveling. I’m not an artist, just learning, but it seems to be high quality paper.
