These tongs are outstanding! I LOVE the extended reach. I am fearless catching Copperheads with these tongs. Once you've got them, they can't escape these jaws. Last time my dog got bit it was a $3,000 vet bill so I am a little paranoid. I've used the tongs several times but twice to capture copperheads: once for a 4 foot copperhead and once for a 2 foot copperhead. Tongs worked well on both sized vipers. The tongs also work great for black snakes and brown snakes too but the extended reach provides unparalleled grip and protection from dangerous vipers.

I bought this for its extension feature and the versatility of the jaws to pick up just about anything. I use it to grab garbage deep within the brush alongside roadways and it works perfectly. Definitely recommend.

This is almost all metal Steel/Aluminum and can be disassembled with a Philiips screwdriver for possible repairs in the future (I don't expect any since it is so well built) It does extend if needed to reach down into a water or ditch edge... or I guess to get farther from a snake you want to relocate. It comes with a snake bag and gloves but I would use a 5 gallon pail for ease of relocation and release.I'm using mine in the yard to pick up sticks since I don't bend over very easily anymore.

I have been herping for years. This is the best "snake stick" for moving heavy venomous reptiles. The only downside is the mouth doesn't protect the animal as well as a flattened mouthpiece would. I'd either add another row of biters or flatten them out to better protect the animal. Overall, very pleased with the product.
