Review of Small Magnets 290 PackIf you are someone who enjoys DIY projects, needs organizational tools for home or office, or simply wants to keep your refrigerator organized, the Small Magnets 290 Pack is an excellent investment. This comprehensive pack includes a variety of sizes—7 in total—that cater to various needs, from small tasks to larger projects.First and foremost, the sheer quantity of 290 pieces is impressive. The sizes vary from tiny 3 x 1 mm discs to larger 20 x 2 mm discs, giving you the flexibility to choose the right magnet for any task. Whether you’re attaching notes to a whiteboard, securing tools in a workspace, or crafting fun DIY projects, there's a size that fits perfectly. However, I recommend carefully checking the size information before ordering to ensure you're getting exactly what you need. The magnets themselves are made from neodymium, a rare earth metal known for its incredible magnetic strength. These magnets are reported to have approximately 10 times the magnetic force of ordinary ferrite options, and I can confirm that they hold up to their claims. I used them to hold heavier items, and they performed admirably, demonstrating strong, long-lasting magnetism that doesn’t fade over time.In terms of practical use, I've found them particularly beneficial for organizing my office supplies. The small sizes are perfect for pinning reminders and notes without cluttering my desk. I also used them in a few DIY projects, combining them with wood and fabric, and I was thoroughly impressed with how well they held the pieces together. One of the best features is the durability and reliability of these magnets. Unlike cheaper alternatives that can lose their grip, each magnet from this pack maintains its strength, making them a worthy addition to any craft or organizational toolkit.Overall, if you’re looking for a versatile, strong, and reliable set of magnets, the Small Magnets 290 Pack is a fantastic choice. Whether for home, school, or office use, these small wonders are bound to meet and exceed your expectations. Just ensure to keep track of the different sizes, as they can serve different purposes effectively, enhancing your DIY experiences and organizational efforts. Highly recommended!

All the magnets arrive in a plastic container with a latching lid. Inside, they are also in a plastic bag. This is where I amused myself...I'm an adult with an IQ over 130, and I'm standing in my kitchen struggling against these magnets which have grouped together to resist coming out of the wrapper. They wiggle and squirm and fold over the plastic as if to hold onto it. And pulling single magnets out of the stack is like a game. The tiny ones will jump back to the stack from your finger tips if you release it within 3 inches of the stack. I had fun for a good half-hour. I loved it!

I was curious how much pull these little guys had. These are the 10 x 3 mm size. So, I 3D printed some little magnet holders.Magnetic pull depends a lot on the thickness of the object. Thin sheet metal has less attraction than thick sheet metal. To eliminate that variable I used a big, thick chunk of iron. The block of iron is a microwave oven transformer. The kitchen scale reads 3.35 kilos (3,350g) or around 7 pounds ... If I pull upward, eventually the magnet will disconnect. And after several trials, when it did let go, the scale read right around 2899 grams. (I saw the the "9xx" change to an "8xx" before it lets go) So, 3,350 - 2,900 = 450 grams, which is around 1 lbs.A pound of pull seems like a lot for just one of the magnets. However, a clean, flat, thick iron object makes a lot of difference. They don't even stick to stainless steel, and hardly stick to a refrigerator's thin, painted sheet metal...This kitchen table setup is pretty crude but I did it enough times to be fairly confident. Asking price for 120 of the 10x3 mm magnets was $16.99.

Ordered the 40 count 20x3mm pack. The magnets are actually 19.25 x 2.2mm. I’ll have to redesign my 3d models for these dimension.

These are reasonably strong magnets but not top-notch. I don't have a way to test the actual strength; it just doesn't "feel" as strong as others. It'll probably do the job, tho. See the photo to see the quality of the pieces. 9 of 60 at least have some decent defects. If you're looking for decent magnets that don't need to look pretty, then I'd recommend them.

I use small magnets quite a bit - mainly for attaching hand tools to surfaces (for example, attaching wrenches and things needed to adjust a wood or metal working machine to the machines themselves, or hanging garden tools from our garage wall for easy access); as well as for assembling sub-assemblies in 3D printed parts. For example, I am currently designing and will be 3D printing a case to hold a digital power level meter for my battery electric garden tractor. This is a retrofit for an EXISTING meter case I designed previously, but I am upgrading the meter itself to a larger one which happens to be round (the old one was rectangular). I am keeping the old base, and merely swapping out the rectangular bezel (which was also attached with magnets, but smaller ones) for the new one which transitions the original rectangular shape to the required round meter holder. Because of the increased strength required to solidly hold the larger and heavier attachment, I am going to use these larger magnets for that project (the current ones are only 3mm in diameter). But that's just an example of what I know I will be using these magnets for. They are about 12mm in diameter and 3mm thick and are quite strong for the size, as expected from a neodymium magnet. They came packaged in a nice plastic snap-top case to protect them, and to keep them from forcefully snapping themselves to nearby ferric items (and maybe shattering in the process) as well as to keep them clean, especially from metal filings that may be on my workbench. There are SIXTY individual magnets in the box, which is a pretty good amount, and should cover my needs for a long time!
