Used this on my Loar 520 mandolin to replace my nut, I also reshaped my bridge. This product is fantastic, it made me love my mandolin again. I was about to buy a 4 or $5000 dollar mandolin because of the sound. Now this old $600 mandolin sounds great because of this product. The nut that came on my Loar was a problem from the beginning, it was over cut and I filled and recut the nut and it helped a lot on buzz but with this new nut it rings out and chops like a much higher grade instrument. If you buy this nut replacement and take your time and shape it to fit your nut slot, you will be very happy with the results. I love it.

I installed it on my mandolin and it does help with the action at the first and second fret. Easy to tune.

I have a Gold Tone OB 150 banjo that uses the Zero Glide nut and I liked it well enough to get one for my Martin D custom. I play a lot of bluegrass and traditional country music. I play live shows and jam sessions. Tone is extremely important to me as is volume because I mic all my instruments on live shows so no pickups, amps or effects are used. Good tone and volume are a must in these situations. What tone I get is the way I play and the way my instrument is setup. This nut system works great on my banjo and it woke up my #1 guitar. After playing those 2 instruments for a while with Zero Glide nuts I had to order this one for my Washburn M3SWK F body mandolin. I have done many upgrades to improve tone and volume to my mandolin. I took off the pick guard because of that pesky piece of tone killing foam that hits the sound board. I added a Tone Gard to the back then added an arm rest. I use GHS Bobby Osborn signature strings. I will be changing the saddle out for either an antler or custom made compensated brass saddle.I set this mandolin up for maximum tone and volume. Every upgrade I have done has added what I want to my mandolin. The back and top have not been revoiced (A process a luthier does that requires a disassembly of the body to do some adjustments to the back and top to improve tone). I have as much fun messing with tone and trying to squeeze everything I can get from my instruments as I do playing them. I just don't plan on tearing into the wood any time soonThe Zero Glide is a must have addition to any stringed instrument. WHY? Zero Glide eliminates string bind at the nut. No more using toxic things like graphite or lithium grease at the nut. I hate having to that at every string change and it can get messy. Once you properly install the Zero Glide nut you are going to notice the difference right away and will notice those days of using grease and graphite n the nut are gone. You will get some sustain and volume where you did not have it before. You will also notice tuning issues have gone away. YES, you do have to do a bit of filing on the bottom of the bone part of the Zero Glide and to the sides to shape it to the neck. There are a few how to videos on YouTube to show you how to install it and what tools and supplies you need to do the job proper.Watch those videos and you can learn to do it. You will notice the action is perfect at the first fret. Assuming you are tuned to pitch and the intonation and action is set proper at the bridge, you are going to have a lot of fun playing and listening to some sweet notes. I will not use anything else on my acoustic instruments but a Zero Glide nut.WHY? Because it works and exceeded my requirements and expectations. It is in my opinion the best nut you can buy.
