checked hole alignment and got the entire thing in the door. Went to screw in the handles and the screws wouldn't take. It appears that ALL holes aren't tapped. By this point, I had cut the lock tails down to size. So I put in the old handle, which didn't have a lock, and put it all together... then since the lock tail was short, it snapped the first time I locked the door.. had to take the entire thing apart again, remove the broken piece with needlenose pliers, and unlock with flathead screwdriver to unlock the door.So in the end, I used the old outside handle and the old latch and tail. It's still not perfect, but it works and locks.what should've been an easy fix, turned into a major PITA.

This sliding glass door handle came complete with all of the parts you need to swap out a standard sliding door handle with one that also has an external lock accessible. This is great when you may need to access the room or home from the outside without being in the house. Most handles only have the lever to lock it from the inside with no way to open when you are outside of the home, this solves that issue. The metal is durable and heavy, the paint looks nice and smooth and it fit well without any modifications.

I just installed this sliding patio door handle. Overall, it’s a great replacement. The installation was straightforward, but I did encounter an issue with locking from the outside. While the handle is easy to open, I had trouble locking it from the outside—the key wouldn’t come out after turning it to lock. It’s easy to unlock, but getting the key out once locked can be a bit tricky. It might be an alignment issue or something to do with the key cylinder. However, aside from this small inconvenience, the handle is durable, looks modern, and works well. It fits nicely, and the white finish holds up well against scratches. Worth considering, but be aware of the locking mechanism if you have similar issues!

Advertised as universal, it was not. Required xtra drilling of the door to make it fit. It can lock from inside but cannot unlock from the outside with keys due to its poor fit. It will do for now.

Door handle looks good and feels sturdy. However I had some installation issues. The sliding glass door handle bolts (3 15/16" spacing) fit through my door just fine but the dimensions shown on the product page don't show that the pin that should operate the lock is midway between the bolts (2" from each bolt", whereas on my door the corresponding hole is 1 1/4 inches from one hole. i.e. I couldn't use the outside lock feature because I had to cut the lock operating pin off the outside handle to make it fit.Be sure to check your door for a match between the holes for 2 bolts and a lock operator as well. Also, the instructions basically say "install it" but the outside handle can be installed either way, and the bolts are off center, so you end up with the handle either closer or father away from the door jamb. When I initially installed it, the outside handle would hit the door jam and the door wouldn't close completely so the inside lock lever wouldn't operate fully. After I looked at the drawings and realized I could simply rotate the outside handle to allow the door to seat all the way in the door jamb the lock worked as it should. Both the product page and the instructions could use a bit of improvement, but I'm giving it 5 stars anyway because it's about what you'd expect if you went to Home Depot and picked a "universal" door handle off the shelf.

Old Slider Door Never Had a outside Lock. This Patio Door Lock Set matched the old lock perfectly (holes etc) only difference was this was little thicker (inside and outside) than the old one but the screw bolt set (needed longer) included took care of that.I Deviated from the instructions when I realized I didnt need to change the mortise lock inside the door as the new outside handle lock cylinder tailpiece (flat brass bar) came thru the door with no problems (Key worked locking and unlocking).Inside - the cylinder tailpiece (flat brass looking bar) extended too far and would need cutting. Normal as door thicknesses are different..The inside Lock Actuator (thumb up down lock unlock switch) supplied in Kit also has a cylinder tailpiece. .This is where I differed from instructions. The old thumb inside actuator was identical to the new. So I looked at the old one to see how the flat bar was being held inside the lever and its a crimp bulge on the brass bar.Seeing as the crimp was only on one side of the thumb actuator rectangular hole I carefully drifted out the bar in a vice and it popped out easy enough. Then i took the thumb actuator and slid it to the door over and around the new brass bar coming inside thru the door from the outside door lock.Holding everything clamped by hand tight I marked the bar for cutting flush to the top of the thumb actuator like it was originally. The New inside Door handle has ridges that hold the actuator flush to the door so another crimp really isnt necessary as its not going anywhere except up and down...Gluing it was a thought but how to get it off in the future...This saved a precision double cut for the thumb inside cylinder tailpiece and the the outside lock cylinder tailpiece trying to get them to meet and butt together inside the mortise lock. Also I think its stronger as its one bar all the way thru instead of two brass bars meeting in the middle.Using a vice makes snapping or cutting the bar easier as no damage is done to bar being used. Bar snaps easy using pliers back and forth (at vice clamp)Lining up holes to bolt everything together takes patience and minor aligning adjustments hunting for the outside handle hole but once one is in its all downhill..Lock and keys felt a little raspy and a shot of oil solved that.Key only comes out in direction it went in. To Lock turn clockwise and back.. To Unlock turn counter clock wise and back...All in all its a well made kit that now makes securing another coming and going door available.
