Attention:

1. Soak wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes, or else they are likely to light on fire and give you more flame than smoke.

2. Turn your grill to lower the heat of the dedicated burner under the smoker box to medium or low so that the wood will smolder slowly.

3. Control the temperature of a gas grill is not a matter of opening and closing vents, it's simply a matter of turning knobs. In most cases, you will adjust one or two of the main burners during cooking, though if you want to smoke at very low temperatures (below 250°F), turn off all of the main burners and use just the dedicated burner under the smoker box for the heat.

How To Use

1.Place your favorite favor of woodchips on the bottom tray of this grill smoker box. The reason people soak their wood chips first is to prevent them from catching fire. This smoker box does not have holes on the bottom so the wood chips should not catch on fire. Inside a smoker box, wet wood chips will take longer to produce smoke. We recommend dry wood chips for best results.

2.Place the smoker box as close to the heat source as possible. If using charcoal, place directly on top of the charcoal. On a gas grill, that means on top of the burners. We recommend turning your burners on the highest setting to get the smoker box hot enough to start producing smoke.

3.Now, you can start your grilling, just place your food on the grill and enjoy the happy bbq time and the delicious smoky flavor!

I wish I'd gotten one of these years ago. I use it on a Weber Spirit 210 grill, so it just barely fits under the grates. But i love it, reliable smoke, and for quite awhile when cooking. 5 stars.

This might be a technical question. I've used this on my gas grill, and it holds about two cups of applewood. The wood burns completely, making a lot of smoke, and I soak in water for an hour before use. It smokes for about a half hourm In spite of this, I can barely taste the smoke in chicken.

This really did well getting the smoke rolling but when I was putting chips and whatnot in there it began to bow some when it was heated. Otherwise, it did everything I wanted and fit perfectly on the dispersing plates.

This item is extremely well crafted of sturdy stainless steel. It WILL become stained and discolored as a natural part of using it on a hot grill so don't waste a lot of time cleaning it. After using it, I removed all the burnt residue and rinsed it out. The cut-outs where the smoke comes through are not only stylish, but effective. It sits high in my grill so I can't really place the grill rack on top of the smoker. Not flat anyway. This is no big deal because I never cook a grill full of foods at once. I soaked the chips before using them even though the Kingsford brand I use says not to. With these temps, you need to soak them first. It took about 5 minutes for the smoke to flow, but once it did, it was steady and effective. I grilled the best tasting shrimp I've made in a long time.

Really like this better designed wood chip smoker box. For our Weber grill, it fits so much nicer on top of the flame deflector, instead of blocking the heat path between two burners. Better smoke, better heat. Can't beat that! We will see how it holds up, but pleased with the performance so far!

This is a simple concept that works very well. It fits perfectly below the grill grates of my Napoleon 665, and the smallest grate of the three sections is perfect for accessing and maintaining the smoker box. You only need a few pieces of charcoal or smoker wood to impart a wonderful wood-fired flavor to your food. I've used 8-10 charcoal briquets to complement grilled chicken and beef, and a handful of cedar chips to flavor grilled salmon steaks. It has been so good I'm thinking about selling my Weber Kettle. Cleaning the smoker box is also easier than I anticipated. The only trick is to get the timing right, between when you light your charcoal or chips and when you get your food on the grill. Wait too long and you'll miss the smoke. Too early and the "wrong" smoke can impart a bitter, acrid taste.

Auf meinem Napoleon passte es perfekt! Es passen ca. 200g Rauchchips hinein und konnte damit 1 Stunde räuchern, kann wahrscheinlich je nach Holzsorte variieren. Übrigens ungewässert. Die Rauchentwicklung war sehr gut und es hat auch nichts angefangen zu brennen. Da ich die Räucherbox zum ersten Mal benutzt habe, kann ich zur Materialqulität noch nicht viel sagen. Ich bin bislang positiv überrascht.

Verarbeitung der Box ist vollkommen in Ordnung. Macht einen soliden Eindruck. Schade jedoch dass an der Unterseite der Box die Spitzen offen sind. Hierdurch drangen die Gasflammen in die Box ein und das Holz hat nicht mehr geräuchert sondern gebrannt... Hierdurch hat natürlich ja auch nichts mehr gequalmt. Auch ein runterdrehen des Brenners hat nichts gebracht. Sehr schade. Mit geschlossenen Unterseiten wäre das Produkt besser geeignet.
