I purchased one for a vintage King 2b silvertone. The snap that holds the pad protection for the slide does not work and will allow the slide to fall out upon opening the case if not careful. The is no mechanism that holds the bell in securely…again allowing it to potentially free fall upon opening the case if not careful. Hardly any room to carry any extra mouth piece(s) or slide lubricant. Do not bother getting this case….it could potentially cause damage to your horn.

Had to cut some of the interior so that the slide would fit. 8" bell fits in case but case is not very thick and there is pressure on the bell . Pockets are too small for standard mouthpieces. Price was good for what you get though.

I purchased this case to transport several different vintage Conn trombones that I regularly play - a '37 Conn 24H (.485" bore with 7" bell) and a '39 32H Burkle (.500/.525" dual bore with 7.5" bell). I have original cases for both but neither are my preference after 80+ years of use. The 24H fits in the case like they were designed for each other. The slightly wider width of the 32H is tighter but fits pretty easily. The bell sections of both horns fit easily and without problem. This case works also accepts the 8" bell off of a 78H but the slide of the 78H is too wide to fit without modifying the case. The case itself is well constructed, looks very nice, and protects the horns quite well, especially for what I do. I have read a fair amount about replacement cases and this one is fairly well regarded. Here's a bit of confession - the final reason I purchased this particular case was that I found it in the "returns" and saved nearly $40 over the normal price along with free Prime shipping - an offer I could not refuse.

A very good case for the money, but you'll have to hack it to really use it. None of the interior compartments are big enough to actually hold basic necessities, like a mouthpiece, rag, slide sprayer bottle, etc. Luckily, the interior velvet is loose and excessive. These cases are built like motorcycle helmets, with an outer plastic shell, styrofoam "padding" molded to shape, and velvet on the inside. Take a razor blade and cut the fabric inside the interior compartment around the bottom. Pull the bottom fabric out. Now you can see the styrofoam beneath. Cut that out. Now you see the inside of the outer shell. Put the fabric back in on the inside of the outer shell. Now the compartment is deeper, and you can actually fit stuff in there. Having done this, you will now find it easy to customize the whole case to your needs.

Note: closer examination and more use of the case revealed a serious flaw. Metal staples holding the slide partition in place can come into contact with the slide. The staples are located in a spot that comes into tight contact with the slide, potentially scratching the finish. I noticed this problem when I saw a loose staple sticking out. My solution was to pull out all of the remaining staples (around 6). This may result in the partition coming unglued. Will have to see how it holds up. This flaw, combined with the lack of storage space results in a 3/5 star rating.Pros:-Solid case. No worries when packing it in the back of a van with a bunch of other instruments.-Good value for the price.-Includes D-rings so that a shoulder strap can be added.-slide and bell fit very snugly inside the case.-compact design doesn't take up much space.-lid doesn't flex too much when opening. This is a good thing, since the slide is stored in the lid. (By way of contrast, BAM foam cases flex like crazy. Potential slide alignment problems might be more likely to arise with a BAM case than with this hard-shell SKB case. I have used a BAM case for several years with my bass and this makes me a bit nervous. No worries with SKB case.)-King 3B fits perfectly.Cons:-the two internal compartments are tiny. A mouthpiece in a pouch barely fits in either compartment.-shoulder strap is not included-leadpipe end of slide is very close to the bell throat, when the case is closed. A thick cloth or some extra padding is recommended to protect the bell from accidental damage. (Since I can't see inside when it is closed, I'm going to err on the side of adding extra padding.)-this case is not as elegant as the new Yamaha cases that come with 891Z and 897Z trombones. Conclusion: Hard cases are better than gig bags (aka Dent Bags). Whether you have a custom Shires or a pawn-shop special, I would recommend this well-built SKB case. Good product for a low price.

First of all I recieved the case on the date they said it would arrive plus I got a $10.00 discount off the price(thank you amazon). Second when I opened the box which was packed very well the case looked great feels solid & lightwight for a hard case the handle feels good on the hand. I order this case because of the SKB reputation plus I read the other reviews and I own 3 SKB rack cases. I like the O rings so you can put a strap on it which is not included as advertised it has 2 compartments with closing lids. I put my horn in it (King 2b) and it fits I also tried putting my other horn (King 3b) fits like a glove the case can only fit straight tenors and bells up to 8 inches as advertised. Ok the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the 2 compartments are shallow the first compartment near the bell has the mouthpiecs can't fit much more than that the second compartment near the tunning slide I have a small water bottle and slide O mix and the compartment barely closes all the way. If you buy this case I would recomend you get a small water bottle and a small container or bottle to put your slide cream or oil.
