I wanted to make a simple pioneer dress for use when I demonstrate spinning or weaving on spinning wheels and a loom. This was an easy pattern to follow for a person like me who doesn't sew very often. The dress fit as expected and is exactly what I wanted.

I was very pleased with this pattern. I used it for a historical re-enactment, and it worked out perfectly. It was true to size. I must say that I am a very experienced seamstress, so I found the directions to be very easy to follow, with the pattern pieces of the correct sizes and fitting correctly together. Even with a less experienced sewer, I think it would be easy enough to follow. I really enjoyed this pattern, and the dress came out wonderfully.

I bought this pattern for the basic shapes of the garments, and to have something to loan out to friends who use patterns. But if you want historically accurate clothing, you should modify this pattern because zippers are not period. It's fine for cosplay, but serious reenactors will laugh behind your back ("Far be it from me to tell someone not to wear a zipper.") If you show up.with a zipper in your dress.

I found gorgeous fabric for my Laura Ingles Wilder dress. This was the closest pattern I could find to that silhouette. I can’t wait to get started. I have cut out the pattern and it seams pretty straight forward. However, about an inch of pattern was on a different sheet, so I will have to tape the two pieces together. I’m glad it was still there though.
