Edit: I contacted the manufacturer to see why I can't get the right part and they had to investigate. Turns out they changed it to a tapered thread and havnt updated their product info on their catalog.

These are really beefy couplings but since they do not have the normal pipe taper be sure to use copious amounts of sealer to prevent vacuum leaks in your new well. I am speaking from experience.

If you are going to drive a well this is the correct coupling to use. It is strong and streamlined. This will not fail like the cheap coupler sold at the home improvement stores.

Drove a well in the yard about 30 feet deep using these and 6 foot pieces of pipe. Used the tractor bucket full of dirt as the mass to drive the well point and pipe into the ground. They took a large amount of abuse and performed flawlessly.

These are really nice and a must to have when driving your own well point. I'm glad I ordered them. They were not available at the big box stores. These are tough and will last. Made out of steel. Drove our well point 17 1/2 feet.

How much can be said about a drive coupling? It's heavier threaded than a standard coupling from a hardware store and the threads are machined perfectly. These are made to withstand any brutal pounding or wrenching you can give them and still maintain their integrity. Wouldn't use any other but Simmons.

I have used the Simmons 946 Well Drive Coupling for the first time in my most recent well. They are excellent. There is no deforming or thread damage to the pipes when using these couplers. I also used a good pipe joint compound. I have driven 5 wells and always experienced the fore mentioned problems when using the standard coupling. I even had to re-thread some pipes. With the Simmons coupling,I drove down 25 feet with no problems and now have a good well. They are definately worth the extra money.
