I already committed to Jameson pole saw system but the standard Jameson blade was flimsy and lacked the hook on tip of blade. The hook made it easier to not lose my place cutting. I decided to order the hayate blade instead and modify it to fit my Jameson system.First i had to redrill the screw hole and new support holes. I used the Jameson blade as template, and the holes as guides to hold the drill steady to keep bit from dancing everywhere. Center punch won’t work. The blade is incredibly hard like tempered steel, i needed carbide bits to drill through them. I used standard drill bits for about half hour and it didn’t do anything. I also have to cut off the back end with angle grinder cutting wheel so it would fit on Jameson blade attachment.Well, despite all the extra work, I’m very happy with the blade because it just gave my Jameson a big upgrade. The saw cuts smoothly and has less flex than Jameson blade. It’s really not fair comparison since the blade costs at least 4 times as much. At least doing it this way i don’t need to invest in another $400+ pole saw system. I wanted to keep my Jameson pole system bc i might not always be sawing vertically (might saw at an angle which hayate poles isn’t designed for). The blade is longer, wider and thicker than standard 16” Jameson blade, so given those qualities, it has less flex and is more stable during cuts.In the photo i have the blade attachment reversed but I prefer it this way. When i rest between sawing thicker limbs, i don’t leave blade inside cut bc the blade will get stuck and that’s a huge pain to dislodge when it gets stuck. I push out blade and rest it on the back side of hook while i rest between cuts.Cutting with a pole saw for thicker and heavier branches is an adventure. Because you can’t cut the underside of limbs easily when pole is long, the limb will always shift pinching the blade at some point. Thicker branches always want to catch the blade especially when the blade is buried inside cut and the momentum stops. Hard to get blade moving again once motion stops which is why I slide blade out and rest on the pole or hook. One mistake and blade gets stuck.I recommend cutting lower limbs for practice so if it gets stuck, it’s easier to remove the saw using another tool and maybe a ladder. Sometimes rotating the blade around the limb will dislodge stuck blade. Also cut from both sides of the thicker branch. Cut both sides vertically if possible (be careful not to do this as last step or branch will drop on you!), and finally finish off cutting from the top. This will minimize shifting and allow branch to fall straight down. It also allows you to cut from further away from branch for safety.

I have cut amazing branches way up there. I have broken the tip off two of these now but it is user error, if you let the blade get caught/pinched by a closing gap in a large branch and it's 25 feet up in hte air you gotta yank/swing the saw all over to free it and the tip can break. Not a fault of the blade so 5 stars

My saw got hung up in a branch while I was on a 2 story roof so I had to let it go. Landed right on the tip of the old blade and snapped it right off. This is just like the original. If you own a Silky you know how good this blade is.

Fit my Hayate perfect. Took a little bit to get here, but it does come from Japan and arrived in the time frame they started. No complaints. P.s. if you haven't used a silky saw, sorry bout your bad luck!!!!! It's the difference between a steak knife and a chainsaw
