Silky saws are awesome, I own 2 pocket boy saws that I use for my work as an outdoor instructor. My son who works as a traditional oak timber framer kept borrowing one so when his birthday came around I asked if he would like his own silky saw... he decided that this slightly longer GOMBOY would be better for him. These saws cut so easily and smoothly. Silky saws cut on the pull (not the push) and are a dream to use.The grippy handle is also good and the build quality is high. The down sides are:They aren't cheap!Replacement blades are very expensive.

Cuts really well. I certainly hemmed and hawed over this purchase because of the price, and because the other cheaper handsaws I’ve purchased were so disappointing. I’ve had my saw some months now and it has made my life so much easier. It’s held up really well in the Florida humidity and none of the parts have broken, rusted or fallen off, unlike my previous purchases. Well worth the extra cost. The size and weight of the blade is good for so many small to medium sized projects. One of my favourite new toys, I mean tools. I look forward to using this for years to come.

***************Update 05-07-2019*******************I've used this thing on just about everything now and it's still a Vicious Little Cutter. I give it 7 stars out of five.********************************************************Having acquired this saw for my bug out bag, I found it to be a constant little buddy when working in the back yard.Recently set a dozen fence posts along a property line infused with low hanging/spreading coniferous branches along the entire way. This little "Sawz-all" carved a 3' fence[work] path magnificently. For hardwoods like dogwood, branch removal left a smooth, properly-angled cut to the tree .. with minimal effort. And that's the point .. this tool wasn't designed to give its users a workout but rather a fast, efficient result with minimal effort. So when I'm outside, this little rascal often stays in my back pocket; just too handy to not have along. If the price is your beef, get over it. This is an awesome little tool built many years of pruning if used thoughtfully. The only complaint is the kind-of-dumb plastic storage container it comes with. Nobody's going to strap a goofy hinged thing on a belt; a simple kydex sheath would be way better. But other than that, get this saw. You'll use it for almost your pruning/cutting needs.***********************************************************************11-18-2019. Update.Still love this cutter. It's absolutely a vicious little tool and I carry it every time we head out of state to the in-laws. Having used it extensively in backyard cleanups, it's still as sharp as the day I got it. A tad expensive but worth every dime.

I watched a million and a half different YouTube videos on saws, and this one pretty much seemed to be the favorite. I read another million reviews here on amazon, and this one seems to be top rank. Initially, I wanted something bigger, I admit. I was tired of lugging a bow saw around to cut up larger logs, but at the same time I didn't have a good smaller saw for lighter tasks. I didn't think the katana was going to be very good for small tasks, and I wasn't going to buy and carry multiple saws either. So I figured the larger gomboy would be a good balance, medium teeth for versatility. I looked at the bahco laplander, how can you not? It's probably the top selling bushcraft saw on the market. But I have used saws with stamped teeth, and they suck. I looked a lot at corona, and as far as I can tell, the only real difference is the handle, and the second blade lock position. The silky is obviously much nicer, but is it enough to pay 2-3x the price? Well, I guess time will tell on that. The price does tend to jump around, so if you can grab this for around $40 I'd say it's a bargain.Cuts like a hot knife through butter, starting out, I used a fair bit of effort, just being used to push/pull saws. But after a couple cuts, my arms turning to rubber, I started to let the saw do the work. I quickly realized all that effort was wasted. Just running the saw back and forth on the wood, it just goes through it, it doesn't make any difference if you try to add pressure. You can however make the blade bind up and possibly bend it however, so there's another reason to let the saw do it's thing. So 5 stars might be generous when you could potentially get a corona for half the money that works as well. But there is certainly some added quality to the silky, and the price is really the only fault I can find.On a last note, the case. It's a nice heavy plastic latching case, with a lanyard hole and large drain holes. The latch can also be used as a belt loop. That being said, I don't use it. It just adds bulk and weight, and I can see no necessity for using it for my purposes.UPDATE: So my friend bought a corona, and we took our saws on a 4 day camping bushcraft trip. We built a 2 person lean to shelter with walls, an outhouse, and a fire reflector, and processed enough wood for a constant fire, plus stores for the next trip. Needless to say we put them through the paces. I noticed that aside from a MUCH nicer and tougher handle, the silky cut quite a bit faster and easier. For logs 4"+ diameter he just left it to me, didn't even want to bother with the corona. The only place it did outshine the silky, was small limbs, less than finger size. The silky is a little too bitey when the limbs start to nestle in the tooth gaps. After all that, it's a little dirty, but still cuts like new. I'm probably going to want a bucksaw still for larger lumber, but this thing is really packable. I don't notice it when it's in my pocket most of the time. Sure it sticks up a ways, but not enough to fall out or interfere with me bending or sitting.

This is the best folding saw I've ever used! It is sharp as all hell and rips through logs of small 1-4 inch diameter with almost no effort, it is capable of cutting through bigger stuff, but you have to be carefull as it becomes much easier to bind the blade on thicker 5 inch and up logs.As a million reviewers have already mentioned it only cuts on the pull, so your push stroke needs to be pretty gentle since that is where you are putting the most strain on the blade and you could bend it, this really shouldn't be a problem for you if you unless you are a total bonehead. Basically if the blade is starting to get stuck you are either cutting something too thick, or you need to put some downward pressure on the the piece you are trying to cut off cause the wood is pinching the blade. The grip is super comfortable, and the locking mechanism seems very strong and is easy to use. The blade has double rows of teeth that are scary sharp and very nicely machined, it looks like it ought to last a good while before I have to replace it, honestly I don't think your average person would be able to sharpen it without special tools, but maybe I'll see what Google has to say on the subject. Overall I'm pretty impressed with the design and quality of this tool, I've carried it on my last few backpacking trips and it's already become an essential part of my kit.If you order this from a Japanese seller like I did just keep in mind that it will take about 3 weeks for you to get it.I'll update this review in 6 months or so to give some idea of how well my silky holds up.
