These silicone lids are not what I expected. I ordered them thinking the almost 4" one would work with my 4-1/2" Pyrex glass storage container, as I thought they would stretch. Wrong! The 5" one won't even work on my 4-1/2" glass container--see my first picture. That lid, which looks so appropriate on that container will not seal to it--it is too small. They have to be considerably larger than the container they are going to cover. See picture number 2--that is the size that works. Once you put the proper size on, you push down in the middle and it seals to the glass edge. They look a little odd and will take up more room in the refrigerator, but if you have odd-shaped containers or just need new lids, these will work. Just be sure you upsize enough so that they will work. Only the largest size (the 6" one) will work on my 4-1/2' container. Note: they do work on plastic and cans as well as glass. And they do prevent any liquid from escaping--so are good for putting a pretty full can or container in the fridge. They do NOT work on a measuring cup or anything that does not have a smooth top to seal against.

These silicone lids work well on glasses and ceramic bowls for refrigerator storage. The lids have to have a significantly wider diameter than the vessel to hold fast, and the rim has to be smooth. You just press down and they hold in place. Overall a great idea, but more refrigerator shelf space is needed than the vessel footprint. The lids stick much better than plastic wrap, and I feel so much better not having to produce more and more plastic wrap trash. We washed the lids several times in the dishwasher already and they keep their function well.
