Even though it has the little not skid dots on the bottom. They don't grip at all. The pad itself is super thin.

I set out to design a footrest for my favorite TV chair, and a good 'ol 5-gallon bucket from Lowe's with its top turned out to be the perfect height, but the square, memory foam, chair cushion I put on top of it kept getting in the way because of the corners. Presto! This 13" cushion is just the right size for the slightest overhang on the 12" top (use the bucket upright, then it's actually better than anything commercial because you're not bumping it or having to move it every time you get up out of your chair (slightly smaller at the base to clear big feet), the memory foam is the perfect firmness and thickness for sensitive calf muscles, and the rubber nibs on the bottom keep it in place. Pick your color to match or contrast your bucket. Designer ottoman for under $20, anyone?
