I've used these to install LP Smart siding on the detached office I built for my husband. It allows me to work on it without requiring an extra set of hands. Extremely easy to adjust depending on the siding width you have.

Use light pressure when clamping these onto fiber cement board and don't leave them clamped for very long. I was clamping them down with a lot of force which was damaging the fiber cement board exterior surface. Only light clamping is needed, even when you're working with 8' board lengths.Don't leave the clamps attached to the board when you don't need to. I left some clamped for a few hours and when I took them off, it took off the fiber cement board exterior with them. Also periodically clean the rubber side of the clamps (where they touch the board) to remove the fiber cement board particles that can collect there. They can also damage your exterior. My only complaint about these tools is that the acorn nut likes to come off easily. I know they're meant to come off so you can change the board height (and you'll likely need to change the height when you get into tricky situations like below windows, below eaves, etc) but these like to fall off and then you can't find them. Not sure if Gecko Gauges are any better as I haven't used them. These are absolutely worth the price if you're attaching fiber cement board in a "lap siding" style.

I ordered these months ago and finally used them today. When I saw them in person I didn't see how these were gonna actually work, but they worked awesome. One man siding job.

ONLY WHEN TEH ATTACHMENT BAR IS SLIGHTLY TENSIONED DOES THE DEVICE SIT FLUSH AGAINST THE SIDING. THE SLIGHT TENSION DOES NOT HOLD THE SIDING BOARD IN PLACE. WHEN YOU ADD TENSION TO THE ATTACHMENT BAR THE DEVICE PUSHES AWAY FROM THE SIDING AND DOES NOT CATCH THE BOTTOM EDGE OF THE NEW SIDING BOARD. HAD TO USE A WEDGE TO PUSH THE BOTTOM OF THE DEVICE OUT SO THE TOP WAS MORE FLUSH WITH THE SIDING BOARD THE DEVICE IS ATTACHED TO. ENDED UP SETTING TWO SCREWS TO THE INPLACE SIDING AT THE DESIGNATED BOTTOM OF THE SIDING TO BE ADDED TO HOLD THE NEW SIDING PIECE. OTHER BRANDS MAY WORK, BUT NOT THIS ONE.

Doing cedar clapboard siding solo.....try hanging a 16 foot clap by yourself...yes it's light, yes it's easy to move around but if you want it level you need to nail one end and then level and then nail the middle then the other end....can't hold a 16 foot clap with one hand, nailer in the other and keep everything aligned. This tool is the extra set of hands you need. Works simple, works great.
