But now we need a plumber. At the time we ordered this product, we didn't know how our bathroom wall was constructed. Now we do. Our wall consists of a layer of ceramic tiles glued atop dry wall and behind that drywall, is the water pipe to which this product is supposed to thread into. See attached diagram.Unfortunately as the diagram shows, our wall is too thick. We need some kind of "spout" that we can insert into the wall and thread to the water pipe. Then we affix this product to the "spout". Time to call a professional. What a bummer, cuz it's a gorgeous piece of hardware. If you saw it and held it you'd agree... it's well crafted.

I am amazed by the quality of this shower arm. I have not yet installed it, as I am afraid to tackle plumbing projects in my 100+ year old home for fear of messing something up, but the weight of it (heavy!!) was a nice surprise - a solid metal piece. It feels like a high quality shower arm and is not simply "spray-painted plastic" like many of the shower heads and other accessories I've viewed here on Amazon. Well worth the cost and I can't wait to get my plumber over so I can see it in use.

I have installed dozens of normal looking bent pipe Shower Arms. Even the very expensive bathtub faucets came with the bent pipe Shower Arms. But this is a really good looking Shower Arm. It is also very well made with perfect chrome finish and well made ½ ‘ NPT threads. I suspect the threads are superior quality rolled threads instead of cut threads, but the website description does not state this, so I can’t say for sure. The manufacturer must have high Quality Control standards. Its wall mount end’s big diameter is such that it does NOT require an Escutcheon at the wall surface. It is going in my next bathroom remodeling job for sure; and I will be using this brand and model from now on.
