I have wasted more than 20 hours on this thing already. Have owned it more than 6 months. I cut a wood base out of 3/4" plywood, and the cast iron snapped when I tried to screw it on. I barely tightened the bolts, too!! After numerous phone calls I got a new base, but putting it on the new base is a terrible job. After removing about 15 screws and unplugging 8 wires it's just a mess. They use crimps for some of the wires, and I can't duplicate that! RIDICULOUS! Stay far away! Worst tool purchase I have ever made.

We use this bench grider everyday in our repair shop. It has not given us any issues and the price was great. Would definitely buy again hands down.

I’ve gone through a lot of grinders as it is my favorite tool in the shop, this tool not only is a tool but it makes tools. This is Shop Fox grinder Hass to be the best one I’ve ever used for the value that it cost. It has an LED light that doesn’t blow out with vibration like every other grinders . the lights construction is also well made it in that it stays where you put the light again from other models the vibration makes the light bow down but not with this one. Right out of the box I plugged it in and turned it on and it was the quietest grinder I’ve ever heard at full speed even looking at the grind wheels being slightly off-balance it was still a solid quiet grinder and it is my first go to out of the four in my shop

First one I recieved had horrible wheels that could neither one be trued up because the sides were so out of true and as a result it really vibrated. Replacement seems pretty good. Tool rests are horrible. Almost impossible to get them to hold the right angle because the notches move it to a new angle as you tighten it. Fair amount of play in them as well. The one with the drill bit sharpening notch is basically useless except maybe for sharpening drill bits. There isn't enough of a flat surface on it to use it for anything else. I was going to try to get by without buying a separate work rest system, but will have to go that route. Grinder itself seems pretty good, think the first one was just a dud. Had several other minor issues on it that the 2nd one doesn't seem to have so far. Adjustable work light is pretty nice, although I wish it had a separate switch. I'd probably forget to turn it off if it did though. Seems like for the amount it costs they could put a decent work guide on it, but every grinder I looked at in stores was just as bad. I guess they just assume that everyone will replace them with something better anyway?

I'm impressed. I've heard good things about the shop fox brand so I thought I would give it a try. Runs smoothly with a little vibration at high speed. Could use a break, takes over 3 minutes to come to a stop. At least you know it has good bearings. I put it all together with no parts left over. Started it up and after 15 seconds a small nut went flying by me. Then a bolt. Shut it down and there was some sparks. The small bolt holding the spark shield came loose. This was already bolted together out of package. So make sure you tighten them before operating. Sparks came from small bolts holding spark shield bracket so they are a bit too long. It will stop after some use. Sharpened an ax and some chisels and it did not bog down.

When I first got it, the wheels were way out of balance. I should have stopped, balanced and dressed them. Instead I persisted with my task. At a certain point the speed control quit. the engine was burning hot. I stopped and ordered some dressers. They worked like a charm. The machine stopped vibrating and now it works smoothly. The speed control works again and the engine doesn't get too hot.The instructions say (in somewhat broken english) that one should return the machine if there was an inordinate amount of vibration. What you really should do is balance the wheels you can find good instructions online for balancing as well as checking wheels for defects.

Does exactly what I wanted it to do: high torque, low speed sanding and polishing with a 24" belt sander attachment. I took me tries to find one with enough torque that didn't cost an arm and leg.
