When the motor assembly on my old Shark started making funny sounds and overheating after 7 years and I thought I would have to throw it all out. The motor assembly itself uses security torx screws and I didn't have the proper tips so I couldn't check it out to see if it was fixable. I saw this replacement for $50 (less than a vacuum shop would charge for labor to repair it) and was a little skeptical because of the numerous models it set it fit but it snapped right in and got my vacuum running again (hopefully for another 7 years).
