This window guard is constructed of 0.048 inch thick, plain carbon steel square tubing and comes in a black painted finish. Note: This is a fixed window guard, meaning that once it has been installed it cannot be opened nor easily removed in the event of an emergency where entry or exit through the window would be required. For this reason, THIS FIXED WINDOW GUARD SHOULD NOT BE USED IN BEDROOMS OR SLEEPING QUARTERS WHERE NO OTHER EMERGENCY EXIT WINDOW IS ACCESSIBLE. For windows requiring emergency access capabilities, please use appropriate hinged version of these window guards, like Prime-Line part S 4779. This child fall window guard is non-operational and it is designed for interior use only. The intended purpose of this guard is to assist in preventing children from accidental falls through open windows. This window guard features a fully adjustable telescoping width (prior to mounting), and it comes complete with one-way, tamper-proof installation screws. This child fall window guard meets New York City and New Jersey’s housing codes, and it was approved by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, HDWG #04-09-2010, but it does not meet egress.

I am a contractor I used 8 of these guards for me client which they were 54 inch wide it fit perfectly screwing to window frame was breeze less than a minute. I forgot to take pictures which I will when I visit my customer, highly recommend

Bars are fine for a low expectation of security use. A battery powered saw can cut them quickly. My real complaint is the quality of the screws. These are not very good and the heads stripped readily. I am going to buy better ones locally.

Sturdy, well made. Did not use screws that came with it. I used bigger concrete bolts for added strength.

I am pleased with this product. The delivery was swift, and I was able to install it in less than 5 minutes without any difficulty. However, it's worth noting that the screws are not like regular Phillips or any other type. I accidentally rounded two of them and had to replace them with new screws since the product does not include any tools to help with this new screw format. I'll purchase three more guards; however, while I understand why the vendor has chosen this type of screw, it would be helpful if they offered the appropriate tool to go along with it.

I gave it a five star on everything cause it's true. Some people don't like the oneway screws, saying there hard to install. Yeah that means taking them out is a nightmare for the intruder.

I bought two of these because the window that I was putting it on was bigger than any one of these. I bolted the two together and stretched it across. I use it to keep my dog from scratching and lunging at the windows every time some one approaches the front door. I did not want to block his view as he loves to sit and stare out but now he just barks instead at people (I am OK with that). My dog has broken the window once before and this is a good deterrent for him. It is not used for the security at all but looks and feels like it would slow some one down if they were trying to get in.

Being in an apartment and their windows not sturdy enough, I needed something to ensure. Y kids will be safer than the apartment's cheap window lock. These bars give me a peace of mind at night knowing that my kids are safer if someone tried to break in. Very easy to install and screws come with it. The screws provided are really good quality screws and not cheap flimsy screws that typically come in packages. Well worth the money.
