Ok. We have a crank handle that hits the window sill so to complete the necessary 360 degree rotation was impossible. Solution: an extension to carry the crank a bit further away from and above the sill so a 360 degree turn was possible. Rather than doing a partial turn, removing the handle, replacing it at the beginning of the turn and maybe getting 1/2 turn before having to repeat the process. Not a good idea as this constant removal and replacement will strip both the crank and the stub it attaches to. Plus there is no question of running in a set screw. Bought this extender. Soft aluminum. Ran in a set screw from the crank to the extender and the extender, being merely a hollow, weak aluminum pipe, collapsed. Broke. Set has 2. Tried again with number 2 and gently, very gently, tightened the set screw. Bit wobbly but OK, sorta. Pushed onto the stub and wobbly but works for now. Will fail, I am sure. An unhappy purchase. Be warned, please. Zero stars would be more appropriate...Updated 2024-08-29: Seller replied that the screw is to attach the spline to the crank and illustrates a two-wing crank that I have never seen and is nothing like all the window cranks I have seen. For instance, Pella. Our cranks have i lever and a set screw hole to engage the window spline. No threading for any bolt. The proper usage of this spline extension should be illustrated with the proper crank else many will be fooled. Please beware.

We replaced our bathoom fans with Vortex units. Unfortunately, the knob gets in the way of removing the screen for cleaning. By adding these extensions, we can remove the screen without first removing the handle. An added plus is that my SO can now reach the handle.

This works fine on my mobile home window crank. The splines on all of these cranks eventually wear out, so the two pack will give you a spare. Like others have said, you may have to drill it out to get the screw to go through it. That is what I had to do, but it was just a minor drilling and was very easy to do.

The plastic bubble on the package was damaged - surprised that all of the parts were still there. More problematic, the bore through the middle of the extension is not drilled out large enough to fit the machine screw that is supposed to fit through. I drilled it out a tiny bit bigger and was able to use the extension, but someone without a drill and the correct bit would be out of luck.For over $8 a set, the manufacturer should do a lot better than this, frankly. This is about $1.00 worth of parts.
