This scale was packaged well and easy to assemble. I am extremely frustrated that it will not weigh anything accurately. I put two 35 lb kettle bells on it and I had to set the scale to 125 lb to get it to balance. Plus it never balances back to zero. I would send it back but unfortunately I did not notice at the time of purchase that it was not eligible for return. Very disappointed in Amazon on this!!!!!

Just giving you a word of warning. I just bought this scale and I will have to say it is the worse scale I have ever bought. I didn't buy it on Amazon--but probably should have. The company I bought it from will not let me send it back. I am very light weight and every day that I get on it to way myself, I weight a different weight. And, it is always way, way off from my scale that I have had for years and compare it to my doctor's scale. Now, since they will not take it back, I had to dispute it on my credit card and am hoping I can get rid of it. I JUST WANT TO GET RID OF IT. Just stick with you basic floor model and you will be a lot happier. Compare it to your doctor's scale and just let it go at that. On this scale, the tension rod moves all the time and will never settle down so that you can actually see what you way. I'm just trying to save you the trouble of trying to return something that Seca will not take back and are also very rude. Hope this helps you to decide and save you a lot of $$$.

In case you are wondering this scale is made in China, as per the "country of origin" entry on the calibration certificate. That fact notwithstanding, it is for the most part very well made. The cast iron base is a little rough on top but you would have to be close to notice it. Internal parts inside the base and going upward are galvanized, or something like it, so they should not rust. The instructions are a series of pictures without further explanations, which are adequate to put it together but a disaster when trying to set the zero balance. I won't go into all the problems but if the manufacturer had told the consumer that the chrome screw at the back of the weight indicator beam was a fine adjustment device, it would have saved hours of time, literally. My most serious complaint is the scales' sensitivity. Yes, it will weigh down to one eighth of a pound and do it accurately if you don't mind waiting for a few minutes, and I do mean a few minutes, for the weight indicator beam to stop moving up and down across zero. Don't even think about moving a finger, or arm, or any part of your body during this time because that will cause the indicator beam to swing wildly and you will start the wait all over again. If you don't mind the long wait and to want the accuracy, this is a good scale. But let me warn you the long wait gets old quickly.

Simple to assemble, accurate, clean looking and far better than electronic scales that seem to change accuracy on a daily basis. Wish I could find the height rod separately - cannot locate that accessory on Amazon. eBay or the Seca website.Simple to "zero out" with the turn of a screw, positive weight balance block settings and super fast to read weight. I was using an electronic package scale and it was +/- 5-7 pounds every time I used it. The Seca is far more accurate. It has a larger footprint but it's worth it in the long run.

This scale is well made and very accurate!! It was easy enough to put together and I'm thrilled with the quality of the materials. I weigh myself every morning & it is a blessing not having to play guessing games with what I weigh. I no longer have to do the ridiculous scale dance on-off-on-off-on-off trying for the same number twice - which never happened! I got fed up with inaccurate digital scales and the spring scales / dial scales losing their accuracy over time. Whatever this scale shows is what I actually weigh that day. Whether you're wanting to lose, gain or maintain your weight, I highly recommend this scale! It is worth every penny for peace of mind, quality of the product and it's reliable accuracy! Thank you!!

I read quite a few on-line reviews prior to the purchase of this scale. Many of the reviews of this model were positive. I compared this scale against similar models by Health-O-Meter and Detecto, and considered no others. I found a review by J. Pruett dated January 31, 2008 to be very compelling, and perhaps the single most influential on my decision. So, I placed my order, and I chose to order without the height attachment.The package arrived as promised. On time, no signs of exterior packing damage. I opened the box carefully, and was impressed with the way that they were able to pack the scale safely in a surprisingly small box. Adequate internal foam cushioning, and no damage to the scale. I was a bit surprised to discover that the installation instructions were nothing more than a tri-fold document with outstanding quality illustrations and very few words. Total words in English across 4 pages of illustrations is ten (10). But these are high quality illustrations printed on glossy card-stock paper. VERY NICE! It took only a few minutes for me to realize that I had all the directions I needed to assemble the scale. Once I had all of the parts laid out on the floor, it took about 10 minutes to assemble. Another 5 minutes to "zero" it in, and it was set to go.My intention for this scale is that it be the last one I purchase, and that it last for the rest of my life. If I'm going to work hard to exercise and eat right, then it is only natural that I be able to accurately track weight gain or loss. That is why I didn't mind putting out the bucks for this scale, and I have been extremely satisfied. I would recommend the SECA 700 to anyone interested in a quality product with extreme accuracy (1/8th of a pound). As a bonus, this scale is attractive, with a modern design. Although I keep it in my workput room, it would not be an objectionable addition to a bathroom that has ample room to "absorb" it. This scale doesn't "hide" easily behind a door.Best purchase I have made in a long while.
