The scanner works great. The software takes a bit to get it right but it just takes time to tweak the settings for the best results

The mobile app has to be sideloaded because it's too sketchy to be on the official store. The PC app requires administrator access every time it starts. I had to open the camera view in the Windows Camera app because it was constantly dark when I used the JMStudio app alone. Aside from these scanner ecosystem issues, in the hardware I received, the camera that is supposed to capture the color is black and white and glitches every other time the scanner is restarted. I can solve the glitching by resetting, but it remains black and white across devices.Overall this is a terrible bit of tech and you would be better off using a free photogrammetry app.

So this complex device really leaves much to be desired for me. I thought I could rely on this to scan small items around the house so that I could fix broken bits and pieces. That has not been the case unfortunately. I'm not going to focus as much on the method to power the camera and how it isn't convenient. Others have covered that, and they are correct. I want to cover the user experience. To really sum it up, it has not been great. I installed the software and I expected to be able to put a compatible item on the spin table and scan it. I expected it to generate a 3D model that I could then go and 3D print. This would cut down on CAD time for me, or so I though. Not so much, at least not for me. I followed the instructions to the letter. I tried all kinds of angles and lighting and those sorts of things to improve the quality. I never really got it to do what I expected and eventually got tired of fussing with it. This was my first experience with a 3D scanner, so I don't have any other frame of reference. I just got so frustrated with the process. While I'd give myself a 9 out of 10 on the tech savvy meter, this thing has refused to submit and agree with me. I've only been able to get lousy scans, and that is using the included USB powered spin table. I have no idea how I'd get a hand-scanned object to generate something I could combine into an accurate image with this thing, especially with the fiddly way it needs to be powered. The texture was always accurate on the scan, but the output hasn't really been usable. I hope this changes with a software update or something, but I'm not able to give this item much more than a 3 out of 5. The chances of this being user error or misplaced expectations are low. Most likely, there is just room for improvement on the user experience with this Seal Lite scanner. Try at your own risk, as your results may vary. Perhaps I just haven't figured out the optimal lighting and object size, but I doubt it.

The software that came with the scanner did not want to work right. Not easy to deal with.

Update: The scanner was sent with a bad cable. After having to go thru some time consuming troubleshooting with the company, the cable turned out to be defective and they sent me a new one.Since then, the scanner has been working very well and the software is also great. Overall happy with the purchase. Save your money and skip the turntable and tripod. You'll get better scans without them in my opinion. No matter how many times I try, it just says ""The scanner failed to connect, please reconnect the device!"I installed/uninstalled/reinstalled the software 3 times, even turning off the antivirus.I tried using different USB ports and different computers. The customer support telephone number just rings, nobody picks up.
