I actually bought 2. Unfortunately, they are made with cheap string and didn’t work most of the time. They seemed to get caught up not allowing to close properly and loosing all the crabs on the way up. Waste of time and money. 😞

String is too short so you have to add your own on top of it to close properly. Doesn’t come with instructions but just YouTube it. You have to untie the annoying knot and weave through the center piece (not intuitive), then configure so it closes evenly. If you’re creative and use logic it’s not hard to figure out. We used zip ties to secure a hot dog to the base as bait. You can also use floss but will need something (e.g. string) to secure bait (chicken wing, etc.). Be patient. Let trap down then check every 5-10 minutes. Once you figure it out it works as it should. Add something to string/rope to float so you don’t lose sight of it.

So the first time I bought one of these was at a Big 5 store 6 years ago. I decided to get a new one because they are the best (IMO) at snagging crabbs off a dock/pier. Last year alone I caught 8 crab each time I went out with this trap alone. I do have other crab traps that work, but I find these the best. Strap in some chick, drop, and check in 15 min and I have at least 4 crabs in the trap :)

It's cheaper for a crab trap so didn't expect it to hold out forever but literally after pulling it up twice the metal had twisted and bent beyond use. Pretty sure it's some lightweight aluminum composite coated with plastic paint. The drag of the water while pulling it was enough to bend it. Save your money on this cheaper one and just get something better for a little more.
