It was a nice surprise to take this caliper out of the box, it's very well built for the price and a pleasure to use. The bezel of my caliper is a bit loose and can be turned, but that doesn't really cause any problems with using it. It might even be a feature to allow to set the scale to precisely 0. I'm sure that this tool will give me many years of good service.

I checked accuracy against gage blocks and length and depth rod measurements were within half .0005. Not as smooth as a Starrett or Mututoyo, but for $19.00 you can't go wrong. Case was broken in a small area, but it still works after a little Super Glue.

I measured one of my scalp hairs to be 2 thou (0.002 inches). I've never had a dial indicator-esque tool before, so this is pretty neat to play with. I have to get use to thinking of 1/4" as 0.25", and on the caliper measures to big marked "2" with "50" on the dial. By the way, the caliper is divided into 10ths so this is better for decimal use - unless you've memorized your most used fractions (e.g. 3/8" = 0.375 = "3" with Dial "75"). It's more thinking than a digital caliper which gives one concise number, but not as much effort as interpreting a Vernier caliper, so I think it's a decent middle ground for me. Your mileage may very depending on usage.A nice bonus I found out by accident is it's ability to be re-zeroed. You can loosen the plate with the numbers and realign them to wherever you want zero to be. Technically you could use this to measure differences, but I'd rather not fuss with the setting over and over.I loved my old digital calipers that could switch between inch and mm, decimal and fraction, but the batteries kept dying on me. Button cells are the only batteries I never carry because I hate them so much, so I got these calipers to back me up. So far, so good.

For the price these are decent. I wasn't expecting brown and sharp or mitutoyo quality but these arrived with the shim screws completely loose. Upon opening them the calipers were very notchy and gritty feeling and the shim slid right out. Had these cost more than $20 I would have sent them back but instead I took this as an opportunity to look for a diamond in the rough. I put the shim back in and opened and closed them a few times and noticed they wouldn't consistently return to zero. Off by -.006" which meant there was no backlash compensation going on. After watching a few youtube videos on how to disassemble them I attempted to pull the pointer hand off to get at the screws that hold the mechanism onto the caliper but without the proper tool it wasn't budging. I then took the shim back out, took the end stop off and slid the caliper apart. There were tiny metal particals in the rack channel. I cleaned everything and broke all of the sharp edges best I could and slid them back together. With the shim out they're quite sloppy and you can apply pressure in different ways to disengage the wheels from the rack as you slide them. I experimented with tilting them so that the pointer wheel disengaged while the backlash wheel hopefully stayed engaged to try to wind the spring and after several attempts it worked! The pointer is under spring tension and they now return to zero every time! I fine tuned the screw pressure on the shim to get a smooth and tight feel across the whole range and they're actually quite nice now. The clocking is off in left field but it doesn't bother me. The jaw end of the rack is rough and has quite a burr on it that would catch when opening from zero. I smoothed it best I could without actually removing the rack and it's 95% better but will still occasionally slightly snag. I can live with it and it may go away as they wear in.TLDR; These are a diamond in the rough. If you are prepared to potentially do some tinkering to get these to work properly then they're worth it. If you're wanting a set that works smoothly and perfectly right out of the box then these may not be for you.

La calidad general del caliper es mediana. Tiene un acabado un tanto descuidado pero en general funciona bien. Por el precio, lo uso principalmente para aprender a usar un caliper de dial con medidas en pulgadas.

The caliper is what I expected and is great value for the price. Not as smooth as the Mityouoto dial caliper that I have but still is good value. I would buy it again.

I was contemplating giving this a bad score, but since the problem isn't with the product, I decided to give this thing a score it does deserve. This thing is DEADLY accurate, probably the best caliper for under $50, and for the most part it works great, but the condition it came in was terrible. First of all, it was covered in all sorts of different colored liquids when it came, it was beat to hell (the case it comes in was badly damaged during shipping, but the tool itself was already bad), the glass on the dial was scratched and had what looked like paint marks, it was obvious to me that it was used and the seller packaged it and sold it as a new item. I already gave the seller a bad review because of this, so I gave this thing 5 stars because it is indeed an amazing caliper, I just wish I had a new one...

I wasn't expecting too much when I ordered this low priced caliper and "not too much" is what I got. It will certainly come in handy for getting approximate diameter measurements on such things as computer fans, pipe sizes and the usual items that are hard to measure with a standard ruler. As for being a professional precision instrument in an environment where exact measurement is needed, this particular brand of equipment is not your answer. The calibration doesn't hold for very long and the thumb slide is very stiff (maybe a little magic oil will help). Also feels a bit cheaply made but that was expected given the cost. This Caliper is fine for me because I only need approximations not precise I.D.'s and O.D's. So for the average DIYer this is a great tool to have handy and at a great price but don't expect to build the next rocket to Mars with it.
