I bought these when I was going through a machinist technology course thinking it would be a worth while investment and they are 100%. The carbide tips are still sharp after scribing stock here and there. It feels great when the dial locks into the measurements, rather than reading a number from the digital ones usually issued by the company. After being calibrated by different employers, it’s great to see the dial accurately measure then ID of a ring gage to what would be a 10th if the dial had the graduations. I love these calipers and would by them again if I had to, unless they’re lost or stolen, I don’t think I ever will.

Got this to replace a cheap set of knock off digital calipers. Easy to read and compared to my height guage it reads the same. Would highly recommend.

I used this same caliper for 20 years as a professional special effects model maker in Hollywood. It was my choice because I could scribe lines with the sharp carbide jaws and not degrade the accuracy of the tool. A fantastic caliper, by any measure. (See what I did there? Never mind...) Now, I am mentoring a young craftsman/artist and I wanted to equip him for success. A fine tool inspires fine work. I bought this for him and placed it in the pocket of the Kevlar shop apron I also gave him (along with a vintage Rabone and Chesterman machinists’ square!) and he was suitably blown away. Do this for yourself, and make better stuff! Just ask my Academy Award!

I bought these to replace an old pair I've had for 15+ years. Pulled them out of the box. They worked great for a week. I always put them back in the box and keep clean. The beginning of week 2 they started not going back to zero. Then the needle would stop before zero or after zero. These things are junk.

Bought this for working in a machine shop. It's so much more convenient measuring certain things without pulling out my 12" caliper. Quality is next to nothing as Mitutoyo products normally are. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone that's in need of measuring things quickly.
