There is a nice review here that describes adjusting the airflow, but is somewhat incomplete.I experienced trouble on my first hookah dive (sailboat hull cleaning) and had to reverse engineer and fuss with this it in the field. The trouble underwater was the center button failed to purge air and there was air escaping near the hose swivel connection and threaded inserts.Indeed the swiveling must have loosened the threaded connection inserts. I firt tried tightening them, but encountered that depending on how tighten them either air escaped rapidly or no flow at all. I unscrewed the threaded insert where the hose attaches and found that the inner connection insert surrounded a brass screw with a slotted screwdriver adjustment. The previous review failed to mention this. I screwed that screw in and then out and tried various settings to finally come to a reasonable adjustment.I would never recommend using this regulator on a deep dive period. The system is really just a cheap toy.Beware!

Very easy breathing regulator, working great with a hookah system, mouthpiece seems a little smaller than other Scuba regulators I have used, but overall a great regulator for the money.

At the regulator wouldn't stop expelling air, but that was because I wasn't using the hose it came with which has a double sealed fitting to stop air leaking by.It comes with a good usable setting from the manufacturer. The regulator is adjustable (for how easy or hard it gives you air, ie. easier when doing manual labor and needing more air, and harder to minimize air use like if air pump is running off a battery and you want to maximize battery time, which might require an air pressure regulator at the pump to turn it on and off when needed. No adjustment instructions are given in this listing or in package, so I'll provide them here along with pictures. You can't adjust it while underwater because you need to take it apart. First you unscrew the front orange cover turning it counter clockwise. And take that cover, clear plastic washer ring and blue silicone and metal diaphragm out and set aside. You'll see the stainless regulator piece. If the hose is unscrewed this stainless piece will slide over and come out. On the end of one side you will see the end of a threaded bolt with a lock nut. I used needle nose pliers to turn this. Clockwise to tighten and allow more air to easily come out, loose or counter clockwise to make it harder to breath. When done slide it back in, screw on hose and test. Once you have the adjustment you want put the diaphragm, then clear plastic washer ring then screw orange cover back on. Of course keep the area clean so hair and dust doesn't get inside.Note they do make regulators with an adjustable knob, but they are way more expensive. This is a good basic 2nd stage 'octopus' regulator. It doesn't have the first stage that you attach to a tank to drop down the 3000 psi to 50-150 psi, because it's for use as octopus or to connect with an oil less air pump compressor.I'm using a harbor freight ultra quiet Fortress compressor for the pool and bought a 160 Liter/minute for diving. I'm going to use 4" PVC with 4 4" 90's to make an air storage ring/float, a 3 or 4 ft 3/4" PVC to bring in fresh air to air input and to attach dive flag. A storage box to hold pump and lithium batteries, and might try to put a solar panel on top to keep batteries charged. Size of pump could be 40 or 50 L/min if for just 1 person and shallow diving, but larger pumps aren't much more. When connecting put male fitting on regulator hose with nut adapter, so air doesn't free flow when disconnecting from pump hose.

I wanted a regulator to use in my swimming pool to inspect the bottom. I connected it to a shop air compressor via a 50' hose. It works great. The grandkids love it too.I'm not sure I'd trust it for an actual scuba dive in a lake.
