Barely lights up a couple feet. Not worth it.

Running this for a month now with no issues. I'll update this review if it dies within 6 months of purchase.

I’m not sure if I received a dud, but I compared this bulb to one of the 940nm circuit board illuminators (12V 300mA) with 48 LEDs also offered by this company, and there was no comparison.Using a Wyze Cam Pan V2, officially listed as containing 940 nm illuminators, I can see a clear, brightly illuminated zone with the 48 led panel. This bulb shows almost no projected light even though I can see that the glass is glowing in the Wyze display. For the price, I would definitely not recommend this bulb. I am going to ask for a replacement and see if the next one illuminates better

I wanted to get a picture of how a no-IR raspberry pi camera feed looks at night with one of these plugged into a lamp, but the result was just a very tiny bright dot in the center of the field of vision even at long exposure times. For context, I was setting up a DIY night vision security camera for the front door. The lamp was placed right next to the pi unit and the target area was ~4 meters away from the camera. So it was very surprising to find that even with long exposure times it was not possible to get any kind of useful image back. The setup was working fine with daylight conditions, so it wasn't an underlying issue with the camera, and it also worked fine with other IR lights that were more powerful, but I was hoping that this would still be enough to do the trick. It's possible that in a small enclosed space where the light can reflect off close surfaces that this would work for some IR surveillance purposes, but it's certainly not enough for e.g. replacing an overhead garage bulb or something along those lines.

This is by far the highest quality and best functioning IR light I have purchased. I have 5 bulbs of this design from various manufacturers. They are all ok. I've had issues with all of the others. This one is much higher quality, and puts out much more useful light, I'd say close to double the other bulbs. The auto on in darkness feature is also very well thought out. At about $25 more than the other bulbs, it is worth the extra money. Don't waste your money on the cheap bulbs, spend a little more and you won't be gluing the canopy back on or having to remember to turn them off when daylight comes. Light output is very good, but still somewhat directional out the top of the bulb, but nothing is going to stop that, LEDs are directional. Great job in design and manufacture, I'll be buying these from now on.

This item is excellent to provide additional lighting for a night vision camera. However, within 24 hours the bulb died and no longer emitted any light. I would be wary of purchasing this item for the cost when the possibility of it not working after one day exists.

Very expensive but solid 940 nm IR light source. I gave 4 stars due to the price.

I bought this for unnoticed night video of animals in back yard woods. It worked perfect. I added a polishef aluminum reflecting cone and almost doubled the visible light distance.
