This timer is great and good value for the price. I have had the same one for 5 years and although it’s in very used condition it still works. When setting it sometimes it does go off prematurely and can give you a scare if you have it set on the loudest setting but other than that it’s perfect. I have always had trouble waking up and traditional alarms don’t help me but this does it every time. I’ll be purchasing a new one when needed for sure.

I bought this for my wife because sometimes it's hard to wake her up well this one off one morning and scared the crap out of her and the dogs now she takes my advice and puts it in a different part of the room it does this job very well it's very loud but if you have PTSD you might not want to have this particular item it's very loud like 120 decibels don't even mess with me lower sound because you can't even hear it I think for what you get it should be about seven or eight dollars cheaper I paid $25 and it really is just cheap plastic with a speaker in it however it does what it's supposed to do

I am on my 4th Screaming Meanie. I ordered this one because my 220 broke. I ordered too quickly and ended up with this one. It works but lacks the important feature of a clock. It’s my suggestion if you are ordering one to pay the extra for the clock. If you don’t you have to count out the hours between the time you set it and the desired wake up time. So if you go to bed at 10 and wake up at 6, this system needs to be set for 8 hours. The 220 you just set the timer for 6 am. For some this isn’t an issue, for me I don’t have a set bed time so the math can get fuzzy.Overall, it is still effective, battery life is good, and it’s loud enough to upset the family at 5 am. I will be keeping this one as a back up but I will be buying another 220.

I ordered this to help my 16 year old son get out of bed on school mornings. He is able to sleep through it! I wanted to send it back but it turned into be a huge hassle and so I missed the return window and it is ours forever now. It's okay nothing fantastic! Certainly not the loudest alarm clock I've ever heard.

I have two teenagers who would routinely sleep through their alarm clocks. I bought them Screaming Meanie! This alarm clock is alarmingly loud. There is no possible way to sleep through it. Now, they’re getting to school on time.

If you absolutely, positively, must wake up, this is your device.I bought my first one back in the mid-90s. If you really, really need to wake up after a set time, this is your huckleberry. It consists of two smoke alarm speakers, a timer, and a nine volt battery, all in a very durable plastic case.Back in the old days, I was a truck driver. I drove long distances with strict deadlines that weren't realistic given todays safety standards. When I absolutely couldn't drive any further, I would set this timer for 45 minutes and sleep with my head on the wheel along the side of the road. This thing is so loud, it will wake you up, and wake up the guy sleeping in his running truck parked next to you. I used the Screaming Meanie for 3-4 years like this. I remember paying something close to $25 in a truck stop for my first one.The case feels very durable. The controls aren't exactly intuitive, but once you figure them out they are easy to use. You set the count-down timer and start the timer. The battery lasts a very long time. You will hear the slightly different pitch of the alarm sound when the battery starts getting low, but that won't be for months if used daily. After I quit driving truck, I threw my Screaming Meanie in a box. When I rediscovered it last year the battery I left in it had corroded, ruining the device. I decided to replace it. It is small, relatively inexpensive and does its job so well I think I would always like to have one on hand. It is the loudest thing I can imagine ever being powered by one small 9-volt battery.
