Use the Scotts® Turf Builder® EdgeGuard® Mini Broadcast Spreader to apply fertilizer, grass seed, salt and ice melt. This lawn spreader comes pre-calibrated and ready-to-use, and holds up to 5,000 sq. ft. of Scotts® product. When EdgeGuard™ is engaged, it will block off the right-side of the spreader pattern to prevent product from spreading onto non-lawn areas. Using the Scotts® Turf Builder® EdgeGuard® Mini Broadcast Spreader is simple. To begin, turn rate control dial to the correct setting listed on the back of each Scotts® product, pour the product in the hopper, then start spreading. The lawn spreader's design enhancements feature a curved hopper and dual-bladed agitator for smooth product funneling and consistent coverage. Not to mention, it is compact and features a fold-down handle for easy storage. Spreaders provide uniform coverage of granular products; without one, you may end up with uneven coverage of fertilizer or control products that can result in uneven feeding, weed, disease, or insect control. Scotts® spreaders can also be used to distribute salt on walkways and driveways.

I just salted my 80 foot asphalt driveway and side walk with a combination of calcium/magnesium/rock salt in a matter of 3 trips ~10 minutes. it was so easy and spread the salt well. I love this spreader and hope to get many years out of it. Assembly was simple. Just push the wheels on and tighten the collapsible handle. Delivery was earlier than promised and it allowed me to use it for today’s snow/rain storm. Great product that is easy to use.

This light weight spreader is just right and suprisingly strong. It carries a full bag of weed and feed etc for the lawn and spreads evenly. It's easy to put together and ready to go. The last one lasted a decade and if I hadn't left it out in the snow to rust I'd still be using it. I'd buy it again if I needed another one. Great price, fast delivery as always with Amazon.

The Scotts Elite Spreader—-This is a great spreader! It easily handles a big load and is easy to push; easier to push than the mini version. I would have given this 5 stars but it was missing an essential part. The Elite has two gear box’s that attach to the axil. There is suppose to be some part like a pin clip that attaches the gear boxes to the axle so that the when the tires rotate, the axle rotates, which of course rotates the gears, which rotates the the spreader plates, shooting out the fertilizer. But the gear boxes were NOT attached with a lock pin or any kind of pin. When my spread arrived in the mail, I needed to use it immediately. It was easy to assemble the wheels to axel and supposedly was ready to spread. I put in fertilizer and began to push the spreader on my grass. But no fertilizer was spreading. I pushed the spreader on to the sidewalk to see what was the problem. I eventually noticed the gear boxes were not attached to axle. The instructions listing the parts only had hardware for attaching wheels to axle; no lock pins of any sort for gear boxes. So gear boxes should have come already attached. Fortunately I have collected years and years of screws, nuts, bolts, washers, and lock washers. I was able to find two skinny screws the fit the holes and nuts, washers and lock washers small to be able to attach the gear box’s. Not the perfect solution but one that worked. The picture attached to these comment shows you that screws were longer than needed but at least were skinny enough get through the holes. So it was an easy fix. However, the Scott’s product inspector should have caught this before it was shipped. That’s their job (assuming Scott has inspectors)! Obviously the product was not pushed to see if it actually worked! Or maybe the inspector was jamming to some tunes with their ear phones on and assumed the product worked fine because other inspected worked fine. There seems to be a lot of that kind of quality anymore. But once I fixed that, this elite spreader worked great. I’m very pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone. No doubt if purchased from a local store it would not have this problem, but probably would have would have cost more.

Bought for our yard. Does the job. No real issues. Spreads evenly with no leaking. Appears to be strong enough to get the job done. Spreads quickly without sticking. Cleans out simple. If you need to run a hose on it and finished. Light weight and quick fertilizing.

The hoppers, a good size the edge guide works fairly well. Just don’t think that the edges perfectly straight where it’s shooting the particulate out of the hopper. It has metal turners in the bottom, dual hopper drop of the fertilizer so that the old plastic ones were garbage as the gears would wear out in no time. I bought two as mentioned above because the price was so good. And please to this point as I’ve done my 2 acre lot a couple of times and gives a better spray area. I think I’m about 7 feet or more so less walking as it has a dual spreading device under it compared to a single.

over the Deluxe Rotary model. The Elite version spreads very evenly, and it is way better than the Deluxe model I have (admittedly about seven years old), which spreads too heavily on the right side and too lightly on the left side (and has since it was new). This spreader throws very evenly to the right, left, and out front. I couldn’t detect any material coming out of the rear (a good thing). Their claimed spread distance of six feet from left to right is pretty accurate. This model comfortably holds ~3/4 of a 50-lbs bag of fertilizer. The dial setting seems to closely match the often-referred-to Scotts Speedy Green Rotary spreader. For my application, the Lesco-recommended setting of 5.5 for their 30-0-10 fertilizer I used it to spread was spot on. I put it through quite the test - used it on five acres. I planned to use it only for about the first 1 – 1.5 acres and then switch to a pull-behind for the remainder, but honestly, it went so quickly that I decided to just keep going. After a good bit of walking, pushing, and fertilizer pouring, low and behold, I had the full five acres done! After I finished, this spreader was still going strong, so I feel pretty good that it will at least last a few seasons for me (maybe more). The edge guard works better than on the Deluxe, but it’s still not perfect. It actually closes the opening for the left side spreader, but a small amount still got through. Honestly, I wouldn’t tout the Edge Guard capability too highly, so if you plan to use it, be ready for a little bit of material to drop once you disengage the edge guard. One con: Sometimes, when the hopper is about 2/3 to completely full, the outlets don't close completely when the handle is released unless you pull and release said handle quickly a couple of times. This didn't happen often, but I wonder if it will get worse with more usage as springs begin to lose tension/strength. It helps to remember to release the handle quickly, not slowly, in order to get the outlets to close when desired.Lastly - I use spray Teflon to lubricate the cables, gear boxes, axles, handles, and the open/close tabs at the bottom of the hopper. I believe this helps keep these items from sticking as time and use goes on, and it won’t make the fertilizer cake/stick to those areas like grease or oil will. Remember to wash it off and let it dry after using before applying the lubricant.Good luck and enjoy!
