This is one of those tools that is a joy to feel in your hand! As a Weaver, I'm a tactile person and the dips and curves of this shuttle are so beautiful, and just wonderful to run your fingers over. It functions effectively and holds a fair amount of fiber. I'm very happy with it!

This large-sized wooden weaving stick is a beautiful versatile tool that is perfect for handmade weaving projects. It is handcrafted from solid wood and is designed to last. The weaving stick has sanded smooth edges which ensures a comfortable grip that helps prevent snagging and tearing of fibers. It measures almost 12 inches in length and 1.37 inches in width providing ample space for weaving. The weaving stick has an ergonomic handle design made from hardwood making it more comfortable while weaving. Its lightweight and easy-to-use. It also has tapered points at each end, which helps when separating warp threads while you weave. It comes packaged in a rectangular box. This wooden weaving stick would make a perfect gift for knitters.

I've ordered four or five other sewing and textile notions from Savina in the past, and I've been extremely happy with the quality and performance of every single one. This company is making outstanding tools for the textile maker. This weaving shuttle is as well-made as all of their other tools. I don't know what type of wood Savina is using for tool handles and for this shuttle, but it's beautiful. The grain is extremely tight and smooth, and it finishes to a satiny touch with zero snags whatsoever, and the wood is solid and sturdy. The shuttle is shaped well to fit comfortably in the hand, and it holds a good amount of fiber. I'm new to weaving on a loom, but I'm experienced in several types of sewing and rug-making, and this shuttle has a number of potential uses in my work. I'm very happy with this tool, and would recommend it.

As a weaver, I have quite the collection of shuttles. I have stick shuttles and boat shuttles and while the boat shuttles are always made to be smooth and easy to glide through a shed, the stick shuttles are not given the same love by the makers (I'm referring specifically to Ashford and Glimakra, which are rough if you don't sand them down after getting them in, and yes I get they want to give you the opportunity to stain them however you want, but a good sanding before sending would go a long way in customer service).I am however loving this shuttle because it is smooth already, doesn't catch my yarn, the edges are rounded and waxed so everything glides easily through the shed. I'm actually planning on buying another two or three to have on hand I'm enjoying it so much. Being thicker as well it has a nice little groove on both sides of the shuttle to help the yarn get started in the middle (instead of falling off itself immediately as you build it on the shuttle). The only thing that might take some getting used to is the one end having the hook. I actually like it since if I were using a thick or chunky yarn I think it would hold it better (and being smooth and waxed it would slide out as I need it without catching) but I doubt that will take long for me to adjust to.I absolutely would recommend this to any weaver or as a gift for a weaver. I hope they will increase the availability of this item in different sizes as well.

This is far more than just a utilitarian weaving tool. This is a gorgeous and useful hand-carved tool made in South Vietnam. There is no mention of the type of wood that it's made of in the packaging or the listing but whatever it is, the wood is very hard because my fingernail cannot leave a dent in it. It's smooth and has a nice finish on it with a soft luster. Not shellacked or varnished--it is definitely a hand-rubbed oil finish. It is thick enough to be very sturdy and the perfect shape for weaving narrow bands like on an inkle loom, tapestry loom, or any other kind of narrow-ish loom. I like the hook end for doing pick-up work. It allows you to deftly dip over and under various warp threads and still get a good amount of yarn or thread on the shuttle. Highly recommended.

I got this weaving tool to help me make a tree net, which works fantastically! Initially, I was worried it wouldn’t hold much string, but its capacity pleasantly surprised me. It’s easy to use, sturdy, and it made my project so mucch easier.

I make rag rugs. I used either a plastic comb with a curled hook end as a shuttle or my fingers before buying this. I love the feel of the wooden shuttle as it’s slightly thicker and smoother than a comb and of course, saves your fingertips from repeated friction. I don’t wrap my rag ribbons around it as they are too thick. The center groove is still nice to have as it provides a “grip” for my fingers to grasp.
