Worked ok…but only used it one year. We just found adding hot water to the tree everyday made the tree last longer

As soon as I received this, followed instructions exactly & was so excited to get it watering my Christmas tree! First time using it and it had a small, but steady, leak out of the inside plastic liner. I sat it on the kitchen counter for a few minutes, to see if the issue could be fixed…….too big of a leak out of one of the plastic corners. Don’t waste your time or money!!

This definitely makes watering the tree easier. It does not work quite as described. We could not get it to flow on its own. But we could lift the box to get the water to flow. Definitely easier than having to go under the tree. However, when we left town for a week, it definitely stopped watering.

I have to agree with a previous reviewer - the lining on the interior is flimsy. It reminds me of an inflatable beach ball. Given the overall favorable reviews, my husband and I decided to risk it and purchased the device - but we took the precaution of placing it in a garbage bag for the first night. We woke up this morning to find the garbage bag full of water, and, of course, the water level in the tree stand had sunk. Very happy not to have damaged our hardwood floors. This didn't work for us.

I noticed a lot of negative reviews about this not working for other folks. I offer a few observations. 1) This does not immediately work like you think it should — when you add water it takes at least 10 mins for the water to equalize between the water level in the tree and the water level in the box. 2) When using it for the first time, you do need to lift the box up at least 12 inches off the ground to “start” it. You can tell it worked when you hear air bubbles come out of the end of hose in the tree water. There should be no air in the hose if you’ve done it correctly. 3) It is hard to mark off the water level in the box — I simply used some masking tape on the box on the other side of the plastic.

This transforms the experience of keeping a Christmas tree. We kept our tree this year for 7 weeks – from the weekend after Thanksgiving to the middle of January.This box provided a few obvious and really helpful abilities:1. It’s trivial to check the water level2. It’s trivial to add water3. You can go a couple of days, even with a thirsty tree, with the extra water reservoir (so a weekend trip to see family is no problem)But there was one surprise in store. After 5 weeks, we had buds! All over the tree! And while the upper branches were starting to lose needles when touched, we never had enough fallen needles to notice. When we took our tree out, several of the buds had grown to more than 2 inches (5 cm).We had never gotten a Christmas tree as early as we did this year, entirely out of fear of it drying out, and leaving us with a tinder box by Christmas. But the combination of buying a freshly cut tree and keeping it constantly and consistently watered was remarkable. We’ll absolutely get a tree as early as we can from now on. It was delightful to have that much cheer for so long.
