These wood drill bits are sharp and cut well. I tested them on some regular 2x4 boards and of course they buzzed right through. I also had to drill through some really nice 7 layer plywood and that slowed the bits down some. I had to push quite a bit more to cut through the laminate layers, however the final cut was very smooth and nice looking.I took of one star because in my opinion, the hex shank fits slightly loosely in several of the different types and brands of holders that I have.

Purpose for Product: Assistance in those never-ending DIY projects.Product Inspection: Ten Brad point drill bits, see photos, in a plastic case. Bits have an oily coating. Noticed small burrs on some of the bits cutting edges. Hex shank design.Product Performance: Bits fit into drill driver with some obvious looseness but usable. Drilled three holes in a med hard pine stud. The bit easily penetrated the wood and aggressively cut thru the wood, see photos, leaving a very clean hole. Minimal blowout on the back side is partially operator error.Summary: Bits performed as well as most in the industry. The small burrs didn't appear to make any noticeable difference. Price point is attractive.

These came in a square plastic slide together case. They have a very sharp tip, and that allows the drill bit to be placed precisely where you want to drill, and it doesn't walk over the wood. The design of the drill bit itself, the cutting edges, remind me of an auger bit. I like using those for drilling through wood, and these are also quite good which doesn't surprise me. The size of the drill bit is also etched on the shank, which is a nice feature.Speaking of the shank, it fits in a standard chuck, and because it's hex shaped, you won't have slippage. That's a nice feature. I think some people see the shank though and sometimes use it in an impact driver. However, that's generally not a good idea when drilling through wood. It's hard on the drill bit which isn't made for that. Not only isn't the metal designed for it, but I want a very tight fit with a drill bit in the chuck for clean drilling, and you can never get that with any hex shank. As far as I can tell, the bit, including the shank, looks like it's cut from a single piece of metal, and that's so much better than attaching a bit to a hex shank which is what lots of brands do. This is a superior way.So I am very pleased with these bits. They also sell these in packs of a single size, and I'll be picking up some of these the next time I need them. A range of sizes in a pack is good, but you tend to use certain sizes more than other.

Brad point drill bits make it so much easier to get the hole just right! No more skittering across the surface when trying to start it. And a hex shank means I can use them in any drill.I'm a fan!Received free through Vine, but the review is all mine.

Sharp clean holes. 1/4" shank chucks up fast when using an impact drill or drill press.
