This item is useless removing caulk around a shower. Metal end is so dull it wouldn't break thru the surface forward or backward to get underneath and pull the old bead away from the basin/tile wall. After returning to the tried/true razorblade and exacto-knife combo to cut away/remove the bead I tried the black plastic scraping end - also useless. Left black marks on the tub but did nothing to remove the remaining surface material left behind. File this under “If something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is”.Hard Pass.

Nice kit - has everything you need to remove old caulking and to replace with new. Easy to use and clean. This was my first time doing this type of repair and it looks pretty nice if I do say so myself. :)

Admittedly an impulse purchase, this looked as if it might replace my finger for finishing caulking beads. It does but it's tricky to learn to use, is no faster, no better, and takes longer to clean. It does do a better job when I need a large-radius bead and it may be good at removing old caulk, an application I haven't tested. As a plastic replacement for a steel putty knife/scraper— well, my putty knife works better and will last far longer.I've never really figured out how to exchange the radius inserts and the instructional illustration on the package is no help. Brute force is the only thing that has worked for me. There is surely a trick I haven't discovered because this is sure to break something soon.For me, three stars is being generous. This will stay in its box and gather dust.

My large bathroom had old caulk. This tool made it easy to remove the old caulk the the spreaders made it easy to make a large bead of caulk or a small bead. It was really handy.

I used this in conjunction with the Caulk Be Gone remover, and I was able to pull out all the caulk around my bathtub. This is a very useful tool, as it reached into those places it needed in order to get out all the old caulk. Then the other end of this tool has a scraper and a smoothing tool to even out the wet caulk when finishing. For the couple bucks this cost it's well worth the price.

metal scraper scars wood sills better than removing the old caulk. plastic scraper sort of works but edge wears down too fast. Ended up using my metal gasket scrapper-far better results!!

I haven't used this to remove old caulking. I tried to used it at the base of my tub where the builder had used grout to join the base of the tub to the tile. I had no luck removing the old grout from the area. I put new caulk at the base of the tub and spread it with this tool. It worked ok, but I don't know if it worked any better than using my finger to smooth the caulk. I still needed to smooth it with my finger. The tool is a good idea, and I'll try it agin on other projects, but it feel really light and not very sturdy. The ergonomics aren't quite "there" yet.
