I purchased this doorstop alarm as I was a woman traveling alone on a month-long trip to Europe. I wanted to bring something to help increase my safety while at the hotels. I took the batteries out of this doorstop before packing it in my suitcase as I did not want the alarm to go off in the airport/airplane. After I arrived, I decided that the stop itself was handy enough without putting the batteries back in - so I ended up using it without the alarm feature. Though, the alarm is very loud and will definitely do the trick to alert you if you do put the batteries in. The doorstop is very lightweight, which is good for packing on a trip. The only issue I ran into is that some hotels in Europe have doors that don't have much of a gap at the bottom like doors in the U.S. have. Even so, I put the wedge up against the bottom as far as I could and it will still help. Also, there is a rubber bottom on it which helps grip the floor and prevent the stop from being moved if the door is pushed in. I'm glad I brought this doorstop with me for the extra peace of mind and the alarm feature is a great bonus.

These are fantastic! They are loud when pressed, work great under doors and don’t slide due to the rubber bottom. We recently went on a trip to New Orleans and my niece booked an Airbnb that was in a really questionable neighborhood (we found homeless people sitting/sleeping on our porch at night), and the house had no security alarm. These door stoppers made us feel so much safer. We tested them out and not only do they make an incredibly loud noise when the metal is pressed down (and the noise doesn’t shut off until you shut it off), they also stopped the door from opening, and even when we pushed pretty hard, we couldn’t get the door open. Definitely recommend for anyone traveling and staying in a hotel or Airbnb.

I haven't really tested it as a doorstop, but I guess it would operate in the same way as any other doorstop. However word of caution - read the instructions before testing the alarm. I installed the battery and pressed it to hear.....my ears are still ringing. Make sure to test from a safe distance!

Purchased these for traveling, as I assume most do. We've used them for close to a year now in hotels both in Canada and the US, and Air BnB's.They work in two ways:1) The metal plate completes a circut which trips a loud alarm2) The wedge shape allows for blocking of doors that open inward by jamming the door "up" and binding up the hinges, barring physical entry. This is dependent on a few factors:The door opens inwardThe door is at a proper enough height to facilitate such an actionThe floor surface is grippy enough to not allow the device to slide. They work absolutely well, with a few caveats, but first the positives.Pros:The are loud (almost debilitating in small rooms) , don't take up a lot of room and are pretty simple to use.Cons:They won't fit under all doors due to the height of them. Some doors are too low, others too high.On some surfaces they will slide, because you can't get a good wedge because pushing it too far under the door will trip the sensor.By attaching two together with an elastic band, I have managed to make them go off, but not block the door to an effectiveness level that I felt comfortable with. They would work well for waking occupants, provided those occupants are prepared to do something about those person or persons are gaining entry. As a simple stand-alone deterrent, I'd rate them on a 3/10. They won't stop someone determined to gain entry, but they will keep the honest crooks or mistaken housekeeping away with no issues. For improvements on these I would like to see a method of attaching a tripwire/string to them that can allow the same action of a door opening and depressing the metal trigger to trip the alarm. This is useful for times where they won't fit under doors, doors that open outwards (but you'd still like to know when they are opened).Upgraded and expanded grippy material on the bottom to facilitate better sticky action on floorsall in all, if you're someone who wants extra piece of mind, one or two of these in your bag is never a bad idea.

Does what it says it does and more — Acts as a wedge to a door, may slow an intruder down and loudest observed alarm. When activated by a door being opened, the piercing alarm is phenomenally loud. I felt better that the fiancé used it while on travel.Though it will not stop an intruder, it will wake up the user, those around you, and the piercing shriek of the alarm may scare the intruder away.Easily carried in a briefcase, I would recommend this to weary travelers, especially when staying in hotels without your standard “door bar” as found on US hotel doors. Door chains can be easily and quietly cut, allowing an intruder unannounced in your room—F-BOMB THAT!The design of this model has an extended sloped wedge longer than models I bought and compared, which allows the wedge to better slide deeper under a door, further acting better as a door wedge to slow an intruder. Compared to other models, the only negatives I found was lack of directions to install the battery and more difficulty to install the battery (you need a micro hex screw driver to remove the battery cover and then attach wires, where in others you unsnap the battery cover and press in battery).I would recommend this to travelers, especially women travelers (who statistically are at higher risks of more assault related crimes). This device should alert you when someone enters through your door—who wants to wake up with some turd 💩 thug with HIS hand over your mouth and a knife at your throat.....or worse yet, the 💩 doing this to your lady.

It's simple, it's effective, but proper functioning depends on your floor surface. For those who don't want to read thru the end....Conclusion:This is a great and simple solution to keep people from entering your home, while you are at home. But you have to buy additionally a 9V block battery, need a micro screw driver to place the battery and you have to buy a simple fastener solution (see below) for slippery floor surfaces (e.g. wooden floors, stone or tiles)Delivery:I bought it on Amazon. Delivery was this time one day late.Opening:The packaging of the Alarm is tricky to open. Its completely blistered. This is not very Eco-friendly and you need strong household scissors to open it.Content:Just the Alarm, A short 1/4 page instruction.NO battery included. you need to buy a 9V block battery separately.Installation / Functioning:First you need to buy extra a 9V battery... if you realize this only after the packaging arrived, this might be quite bothersome as many households will have AAA or AA batteries always at home but not 9V block batteries. The installation of the battery requires a micro screw drive. A normal screw driver will not get you far as you wil just damage the screw head. Battery once installed you should be good to go.The alarm is loud and it works very effective. But I have a wooden floor and the device always slid away when opening the door. The rubbers on the bottom would hold strong enough to the ground. So I bought this to hold it strong to the ground and the door cannot slide it away.==> this works perfectly.1) The door is completely and very tight blocked! This keeps intruders from entering your home AND2) you can remove the alarm easily while this scotch fastener consist of two parts. One sticks to the floor and the other to the alarm and you can peel the device off any time easily from the floor.2) The alarm goes safely off if the door opens and cannot be switch off by the intruder - given you have placed the alarm fixed to the ground with the fastener close enough to the door.Final rating:As the obligatory 9V block battery is missing and additional investment into a fastener solution for slippery surface is needed (depending on your home) i can unfortunately only give 4 stars. Once installed properly it works perfect.Open question remaining:How long will the battery last?
