This stuff is intriguing, in that it's an unknown chemical solution which claims to be more environmentally friendly without sacrificing performance on multiple fronts. The good news it that it works, at least in my limited testing. I've sprayed my climbing cams, bike chains, and axe heads with this stuff, and it definitely feels effective as a lubricant at the very least. I'm looking forward to a situation where I need to test its efficacy in rust removal or long-term protection, but the first impression is a positive one.

This review is for the Rust Protection Lubricant Spray - Eco-Friendly (11 oz, Pack of 2), Rust Remover - Plant-Based, No Petroleum, No PTFE… Offered by the Gear Hugger Store. Works better than I expected. It removed rust from a few corroded tools I own, and they are like new. This is easy to work with, and has a pleasant smell. Great deal, especially since it comes in a 2 set. Highly recommend.

This lube/rust remover does as it claims. It works great on light rust as it is intended for. This is not going to do anything for major rust issues. Nothing short of electrolysis really does a good job on heavy rust though but some products do work better than this one. I would consider this more in line with a lube/ preservation product rather than a restoring agent.This stuff worked good on some minor rusted hand tools and left a coating that is not unlike silicon and this product does it while being petroleum free. I used it for our bicycle chains and it worked great and does not sling off like some lubes do. I will have to continue monitoring it for longevity but it’s been almost a month at this point and is fine after near daily use of about ten miles.I think this is a great product that is going to pan out in the long run to be worthy of purchase. With two cans provided it will take me awhile to run through them so I should have a firm opinion by then.I dinged them one star because the spray head is more suited for bug spray or sunscreen than it is for a targeted lubricant. Hopefully they will change the nozzle on future offering or better yet offer a nozzle that can do either stream or fan.

I went to use some of this brand new unused gear hugger and both cans fail to spray at all. I’m not sure if it’s the eco friendly propellant they used or the low ish temps in my garage (mid 40s) but, I have two cans full of liquid I cannot use. My WD40, CLP and PB blaster all work in this temp range, but this was a fairly expensive experiment that did not go well. I’ll give the seller a bit of time to respond or replace it otherwise it’s getting returned. Eco friendly is great and all but it needs to actually propel liquid out of the can in order for this to be useful. I’d love to be able to rate the function of the product but I can’t even get that far into using it.

This works well as a rust remover and protection. I've always sprayed my tools down with a light coating of something especially the ones rotting in my humid garage. This seems to work as well as WD-40 or other silicone based sprays at that job. At nearly >$14 a bottle it's on the spendy side, but it is eco friendly and not pretroleum based. It works for my needs. This bottle will last me a while for my needs.
