This unique check ball design opens to allow the old fluid and air out and closes automatically between the pumps preventing the old fluid and air from re-entering the line. A special coating on the speed bleeder threads keep it from admitting air into the system and keeps expelled air and fluid out. The check ball is centerless ground 410 stainless steel which resists corrosion and galling. It features a patented thread sealing system that displaces air and moisture during thread engagement as well as eliminates air from being pulled back into the system during bleeding.

These speed bleeders make one-man brake bleeding a snap. No spills, second person not required. These are a good investment even if you're going to bleed your brakes only one time. I recommend them!

Can be used for a one-person bleed, but still easier with two. Just back off one valve and keep pumping the pedal till the fresh brake fluid comes through and no air bubbles. Very easy.

They work, but one kept leaking... which is a bad thing for brakes to do. I fiddled with it for a while and ultimately put the original bleeders back in. I could have bought another set and found a combination that worked, but it isn't that big of a deal to drag the wife out to the garage every 4 or 5 years for the odd brake job.

I should have put these in some time ago. These bleeder valves are constructed of stainless steel so they should not corrode. They do have pointed tips and seem to work even though the old bleeder valves had more flat tips. The threads are coated with some sort of rubberized coating that prevents air leaks. Bleeding brakes yourself is easy. The most time I spent was removing the wheels.

Rebuilt the entire drum brake system on my 1970 Ford F100, including new wheel cylinders, master cylinder, hard lines, and hoses. Spent hours bleeding brakes, and they were still soft (and yes, I had bench bled the new master cylinder). Finally broke down and ordered two sets of these to replace the bleeders on the Dorman wheel cylinders. In about 30 minutes, we had the brakes bled and working like new.

Hands dowm, the best investment for a car part! Used the bleeder in conjunction with a new clutch master, lines and slave. Left the bleeder open a half turn, hooked up a vacuum bleeder to pull fresh fluid through. Gave it an extra couple of pumps without the vacuum, tightened the bleeder, and the result was the best clutch ever for this car. Call it a two minuite, one person bleed, with no mess from a completly empty system. How good is that?

These things are awesome! While I was having to replace a leaking wheel cylinder, I installed these on all 4 corners. It was a piece of cake to flush and bleed the entire brake system by myself. It probably took me an hour from start to finish. It was such a great feeling to step on the brakes and have a nice firm pedal the first try. The best part of it all is that I didnt have to drag my wife out to the garage and go through the whole 2 person bleeding process!I will be putting these on my wifes car and any other car I ever own."That's good!" - Jimmy Shorts

One of the valves was stuck (would not bleed) so had to remove and force air through it using a small electric air pump with a fuel hose attached. Took about 30 psi to break the valve open but once i did that it worked just fine. Also these will NOT work with a venturi/vacuum bleeder (I have the one from Harbor Freight)NOTE: If your vehicle is more than 10 years old you can ruin the brake booster (seals) when manually bleeding the brakes by pumping the brake pedal until the brakes are dry. Seeing as a vacuum bleeder is not strong enough to actuate the ball valve in these you will HAVE to pump the brakes in order to bleed them (in other words risk damaging your brake booster). Its hit and miss with older cars. Just something to be aware of. I installed a pair on my newer motorcycle and they work just fine but decided not to use them on my 20 year old Jeep when I discovered that my Harbor Freight vacuum bleeder was not strong enough to open them up.

Wouldn't leave these in the caliper for driving on a VW as the angle seems different, but great for ONE MAN brake bleeding!

Instead of dragging your wife away from the soap operas to help you bleed the brakes on your '76 AMC Pacer, get these Russell Speed Bleeders and do the job all by yourself.Of course, if you don't have a wife, you can still get the job done without having to enlist your half-brother Jethro or that crabby old geezer that says he's your uncle.Quick and thorough brake bleeding with the Russell Speed Bleeders is so easy a Cave Man with a limited knowledge of hydraulic principles could do it.Comes with 4 plastic caps to protect the installed bleeders from dirt, grime, and/or road salt.A one-time installation on each wheel makes it easy to keep your brake lines free of air and/or moisture year after year.If your Owner's Manual calls for DOT 3 brake fluid -- that is the MINIMUM specification. DOT 4 is recommended for ALL brake systems, including disc, drum, and anti-lock (ABS) brakes. Clean, high-quality brake fluid is cheap insurance !!Use FRESH "Valvoline Synthetic DOT 3 & 4 Brake Fluid" --(minimum wet boiling point @ 311 deg. F). The 1-Quart size will be adequate for bleeding most all applications. For best performance and safety, DO NOT USE previously opened containers of brake fluid -- throw those future problems away !! Update: 11 July, 2013 -- Re-bled the brakes after several thousand miles on the new brake job -- Russell Speed Bleeders made the re-bleed a simple, quick, and easy job -- and the brakes are better than new !! Fortunately, while I was busy bleeding the brakes, the wife ran off with the UPS Guy. Thanks, Amazon !!
