Bought for a cross-country road trip - dog didn’t mind it at all, kept her nice and safe in the back seat. Good quality materials, sturdy and durable.

The safety harness is very well made and seems like it would keep a dog safe in the car. The problem for my dog is that the area that covers the chest is too long. It goes so far down his torso that the lower edge of it pushes against his privates. So, although I felt confident that it would protect him in the car, I had to return it.I did find it easy to adjust and the straps and clips are strong and cleverly designed. The one thing that would make it better would be a way to attach a leash. My dog will only walk if the leash is attached to his harness. If I attach the leash directly to his collar he freezes in place and will not move.

I can't recommend this harness highly enough. My dog was clipped into the back seat, wearing this harness, when we were in an accident. Someone zipped across the lane right in front of me, in the rain, and I was unable to stop fully. I don't know how much damage it did to the side of his car because he kept going onto the freeway ramp he was aiming for, but the damage to the front of my car was enough that it was totaled. This harness kept my dog secure in the back seat - she was still in the same place she'd been before the impact. I'm beyond grateful that I came across the video of the crash tests when doing research about dog car harnesses. The one I had came completely apart and the weighted, stuffed dog went flying forward. I don't know if I can leave a link in a review, so I'll just suggest that, if you're interested, do a search.

I bought 2 of these for my dogs protection in the car. Because they don't like riding in the car, we don't go in the car often, so I haven't tried out the dog safety harnesses yet on them.

We've been using this harness for 2 months with our 60lb adult Lab. It's been great. She can sit and lay down with it easily when she's seatbelted. It's comfortable for her to wear - she even gets excited when we bring it out. It's just as fast to put on as our other ruffwear harnesses. The metal buckles to put the harness on the dog can sometimes take a few tries with a wiggly dog, but I appreciate their strength. I've adjusted the fit a few times because I am fussy, but it has been straightforward to do.We chose this harness because it was the most reasonablely priced of the few crash rated harnesses available on the market. Most other tethers and harnesses will NOT secure your dog in even a medium speed crash. That's important for human safety and the dog's.My one design request would be leash attachments on the harness. In a pinch we can attach a leash to her collar or the seatbelt loop. Most often I just put this vehicle harness on over a walking harness. But for outings that involve just a quick transfer from building to car and back (like car ride-only trips or vet trips) it would be nice to have leash attachments on the harness, especially one on the front.

Either I am doing something wrong or the sizing on these is off. I tried two different sizes and one was way too big and the other was way too small. I wish they worked because I love the safety testing the brand does.

This is easy to use and seems to be of good quality. Luckily though it hasn’t been stress tested!

We have two rescue mutts with high anxiety who would run back and forth swapping windows continuously, occasionally trying to pop up in the front seat. We bought a Subaru Outback with the intention of increasing our road trips, hiking, and general outdoor life with our dogs. But I wanted to find something that kept them safe on longer trips. The very first time we used these and the dogs were each nicely and safely seated in their respective places and rode calmly from point A to point B, it was a whole new experience. They love getting these put on because they know it means we're going somewhere fun. The entire ride is safer for us all because I'm not distracted by pacing, whining, intrusive dogs behind me.We have now owned these for quite a while and have taken them on many road trips including the Great Smokey Mountains. While we have not had an accident and pray we never do, we have had to hard brake several times and the dogs both remained on the seat rather than spilling off the bench. It makes me believe that their contraptions would perform as described. These vests are well made quality item that will stand the test of time. If I ever needed to replace them, I would unhesitatingly buy these again.

Its a bit of a nightmare to get this thing on the dog and then get it to fit. There is no explanation how to put it on and how to tighten or loose the thousands of straps. It is very stiff and uncomfortable. I wanted this to secure the dog in a Jeep Wrangler. The dog is not able to roam around in the car. I do not recommend this harness. Going straight back.
