East to use. Does not require a lot of room on desk.

To be clear, it may not be the unit. Easy to install and easy to use, but nearly 80% of my drives (HDD and SSD) showed as "Fatal Hardware Error". Is this common?

I really like this device. It makes it super easy to recover data once thought lost. I have many old dead PCs and laptops that were a hassle to monkey with the hard drives to get the data off, but this makes it super easy to just plop the drive into one of the bays and either clone, or pull up on a pc and view and pull off what i want, format, etc! Saves a ton of time and I have found stuff i haven't seen in years! Saved work I thought long lost.I like that it has multiple bays for file transfer between. I like the USB-A and USB-C, however I recieved a USB-C power error, which i haven't looked into yet. The 3.5 drive is a bit wobbly as one of the ones i have fits smaller than the bay, I have yet to try a 2.5. File transfer is swift!I would recommend this as it is simple, fast, and works exactly as you expected!

I have been using this for about a week and have been super happy with it. I'm able to use for drives I have laying around to see what was on them quickly. It also has an offline drive clone feature. I didn't have anything I could test it on, such as a working OS. But I'm sure it can carbon copy basic files and personal documents without a problem.I went through the manual and found it was easy to understand and had the specs I normally would be looking for. It was in proper English, and likely the other languages it comes in are proper as well. It's built with Aluminum and, I believe, power coated. It looks and feels nice. The on/off button have a nice click to it. All in all, I'm happy with it. For basic data transfering, it does the job well!

If you frequently need to work with internal drives temporarily, it can be a huge hassle to open your PC case, put in the drive, do what you need, and then take it out -- or maybe you use a USB enclosure. But these tend to be size-specific (2.5" or 3.5"), and you have to disassemble/reassemble each time you swap disks. The answer to all this is one of these external docks. Just drop the disk into the dock, and go to work (though personally, I don't like hot swapping them -- cut it off, insert the disk, then turn it back on)! File transfers via the dock to the SSD were blazingly fast, especially given it was a USB connection. In addition to provide easy direct access, this unit can also do drive mirroring. I tried this on two mismatched drives (mirroring a 500GB SSD to a 1TB HDD), and found the process effective (if a bit slow). In my case, I had very little on the source drive. It's worth noting that because this is a disk image, it takes longer than a simple file copy normally would. The real power here is that no connected PC is required during the mirroring process, so you can image drives without tying up a computer. I did have to connect to a computer afterward to open disk manager and enable the volume on the copy drive after the mirror was complete (as directed in the instructions). Also, since the drives were different in size, the mirror operation created a volume smaller than the actual drive which had to be extended to access the additional space. (It should be obvious, but the dock cannot mirror a larger drive to a smaller one even if the contents of the larger drive are small enough to fit).My only complaint is that (at least for 2.5" drives), the dock does not support them from the side (there is a fair amount of clearance between the drive and the door), so an inadvertent bump could dislodge a connected drive or even damage the connectors (which are actually supporting the drive). For temporary use, this is probably fine, but it's worth noting that you should keep this protected while in use to avoid mishaps, especially if working with valuable drives or data.

Put in an SSS and an old HD, connected to W11 PC and both showed up instantly.. The same for connecting to a rPi5, disks accessible and with fast transfers. Have not used the clone feature, my use was to mount drives fromPrevious systems on my newer devices.

This Hard Drive Docking Station will let you take that old hard drive and reuse it as a storage device or keep the information on it by moving the hard drive to this docking station. It will accept large and small hard drives. Its powered by it's own cord to a house outlet so doesn't take power from your computer. It is also connected to the computer by another cord to be available to give or take information using a removable USB-C/USB 3.0 adapter so works well with old or new computer connections.
