The standard seat on a rowing machine is hard plastic. If you don't have natural cushioning it can be quite uncomfortable. This rowing machine seat cushion is thick and compresses a little bit to offer a more comfortable exercise experience. It stays in place and the straps that assist in holding it in place are elastic so that the cushion stays put.

This cushion is great. The padding is very thick and firm enough to give you good support. Worked perfectly well for what I needed it for. I would recommend this item.
