The chest-supported row machine arrived in a reasonable timeframe, and the shipping process was smooth—no complaints there. Assembly instructions consist entirely of illustrations, which might seem daunting at first, but they’re clear enough to follow without much difficulty.Once assembled, the machine is sturdy and effective. I can feel it engaging my lats well during workouts, which is exactly what I wanted. The reason I gave this product four stars instead of five is due to a quirk in its resistance profile. As you pull the handles back to the end of the range of motion, the resistance drops by about 30%. I verified this using a luggage scale, both with and without a 45-pound weight. Refer to the photos I’ve included, which show the measured weight with bands and without bands. Adding bands significantly reduces this issue, and in some cases, it may even add a pound or two of resistance throughout the entire motion/rep.Just in case you’re wondering, I used these heavy black bands (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BTWC5D6L?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title). The brand isn’t as important as the size—this particular size works best for the machine and provides the most consistent resistance.Overall, I asked myself whether I’d purchase this machine again, and the answer is yes. While it’s not on par with the commercial-grade equipment you'd find in a gym, it’s a solid, budget-friendly option for a home workout that gets the job done.
