I wasn't going to purchase this, but then found I had to secure my RotopaX gas can to the back of my tool box. This made me feel more secure about the mounting it this way.

Adds a solid mounting platform when mounting through plastic like on a Polaris rack and using two jugs. Would buy again but the cost is a tad high for what you get

Great Backing Plate. If you're mounting the RotopaX to anything that isn't 100% Steel or sturdy I recommend you use this. I mounted my RotopaX to a aluminum box on my trailer & wouldn't mount it if I didn't have this.

The plate helped to reinforce the factory luggage rack on my KLR. It worked great after a week of off-road riding.

Worked exactly as needed - a backing plate for the rotopax gas can mount - we mounted it to a quad boss storage bin
