My daughter needed this for her cello and it was exactly what we were looking for.

Works great for my son that is just starting to play the cello.

The design and materials for this anchor seems very nice and I would have rated it 5* were it not for the fact that the plastic adjustment slider broke. This means that the strap length is no longer holding the precise position that I liked. It is working OK, but I am continually having to adjust the length to get my "optimal" position.

Although, it has a thick, adjustable strap, the strap cannot be adjusted short enough to hold a cello for a younger middle school aged child. My son is 10, about 4'6" tall, and plays a 3/4 size cello. When playing, his end pin is on the 5th notch. I could not shorten the length of the strap enough to fit snugly. The strap was too long and loose, so it did not hold his cello in place properly while sitting in a chair and a stool. The strap was even longer and more unusable when we switched him to a drum throne/stool. The end that holds the pin was a sturdy plastic, and had a nice rubber bottom to keep it from slipping. The circular plastic lip edge in the middle that holds the pin was tall enough to keep the end pin from sliding out. The metal clip that loops around the chair or stool leg was thin compared to the stoutness of the strap and pin holder. If I could have adjusted the strap shorter to fit my son properly, I would have kept it, but the strap was too long and did not hold his cello in place, so I had to return it.

Much more reliable than rockstops. I have several versions of those. Once they get dusty, they all stop sticking. In a concert or during a recording session, that can be a disaster. These don't slip, unless they come off the leg of the chair.

For a simple, basic rock stop, this works fine. It keeps my cello from slipping on our oak floors, and it's adjustable enough for my personal use. I've played violin for decades, and am learning cello now, so I don't have anything to compare this with, but I also am perfectly satisfied with it.

My cello-playing husband suggested I get this type of endpin holder for our 11-year-old, who is learning cello, instead of a different type of rock stop. He said it's not as high quality as others he's used, but that it works fine. That's good enough for me. We'll worry about higher quality and reassess needs when my son is putting in more practice hours, but as a beginner, it's serving its purpose.

This is the third one of these I have had to purchase as I guess other cellists like mine so well and ask to borrow them and somehow they don't seem to make it back to me. I am going to put my name in big letters on this latest one and put it around my neck. Such a nice useful product-thanks for the speedy shipping and great quality.
