The new version 2 system upgrade expands the spd-30’s onboard kit and phrase libraries, and add powerful new features and functions. Roland original octapad profoundly changed the landscape of electronic percussion. The size of a briefcase, The octapad offered drummers and percussionists the equivalent of an entire electronic rig in one self-contained unit—a new level of convenience and expression. Today, decades later, an exciting new chapter in octapad history begins. The SPD-30 blends the world’s most essential sounds with the latest triggering technology in a road-tough package that’s ready for the most demanding performers.

As soon as I opened this package this looked like a used product. The pads look used and there is no OEM packaging. This was not as advertised. Will be returning product.

The product is really good. I had used it earlier as a borrowed instrument. So wanted to buy it for myself. Got a good product.

The product works great and the drummer I bought it for is thoroughly thrilled with it. I took away a star because this is listed as a new item, it’s priced like all of the new Octa pads, and yet came in a box with the cords in a Ziploc. I would’ve thought I would’ve gotten some kind of a discount for a used product, I know when Scott opened it on Christmas He assumed I bought a used machine and yet I paid full price for it.

This is just what I needed to introduce more versatility into my drum parts in my song recordings. Finally realized that I didn’t need the larger e-drum kits that simulated placement of the individual drums, etc., like acoustic drums, and didn’t have room for even the smallest versions. I just need to make the sounds for recording, and this has them. Better reliability than cheaper ones, I expect. Recommend a bass pedal and a couple of trigger pads for the snare and high hat.

Roland have developed this idea very productively. Years ago I had an SPD-11: this is so much more flexible and usable.Crucially, the pads are excellent. The RH control panel is powerful and intuitive with some great features (i.e. the ability to copy settings on a pad-by-pad basis from existing kits into a new kit). There is real-time control of many parameters. The sounds are generic Roland fare - not really my cup of tea but professional sounding with convincing layering and decent effects. The phrase looping function would be great for live use and is very straightforward to use.Unless you absolutely MUST have multiple outputs there's very little to find fault with.

After trying just about every other drum controller on the market, this was the winner hands down. Didn’t even have read the manual and I navigated with ease through the menu. Drivers are also stable, unlike the others I’ve tried.

Really enjoy the high quality product, good job roland and the amount of sound in it. I'am still learning to incorporate it to my drum/percussion set.
