I purchased this rod strap and was impressed by its durability and ease of use. The extrusion-coated strap resists hook penetration, which means I donโt have to worry about damaging it during fishing trips. It keeps my rods neatly organized and prevents them from jumping around on my boat deck. The gunwale/deck mount fit my boat perfectly, and the instructions were clear. Overall, itโs a fantastic addition to my fishing gear, providing reliability and peace of mind.

I had 30-year-old Velcro rod hold downs. After rehabbing this bass boat, I needed to update the hold downs due to age and loss of the Velcro securing the rods.Other than getting a little tricky with the radius of the inset that goes into the gun wall, found that making a template and using a Christmas tree drill bit, I was able to radius the corners easily and then just using a jig saw to complete the cut. Otherwise not too bad an installation. The supplier should supply a template, and also make sure that the orientation is correct for both Starboard and Port side, they are different.

These REALLY need to have a template sent for cutting in, with the exaggeration to the "up" position. It's extremely nerve wracking to know U are about to cut a giant hole in a very expensive boat, praying that U have it correct. I made a template out of 1/4" plywood, tweaking it multiple times to ensure a great fit, before actually tracing and cutting into the fiberglass. The winding assembly cap needs to have a more secure cap. It came off multiple times, unwinding the spool, and I needed to rewind it back up without breaking it and hoping the cap would stay in place while putting it back together. That was frustrating. Once they are installed, they do function properly, but I am skeptical about how long they will actually last. I do really love that they are tucked out of the way and the floor buckle is low profile and put of the way of foot traffic, so no trip Hazzard like my previous securing system. O do really like the width of the straps to and they do hold well.
