I actually thought maybe most of the reviews were AI generated hype, but in all honesty, these are, at least to my ears, really phenomenal speakers. The main thing I found was that they need to be up on stands of some sort or the bass sounds canned. And the other thing would be that they are very directional. Sitting off to the side diminishes the sound quality quite a bit. I was at first disappointed until I put them up on old sheetrock buckets (classy) and then sat directly in front of them about 8 feet away--amazing. Even playing just your basic overly-compressed MP3 stuff from off of my computer. The bass and treble only have three positions, one mild deficit. Other than that, no complaints. Replaced my Klipsh Pro Media setup with them, and they're far superior. Oh--and they are loud if you want that. Bass is perfectly fine--no need for a subwoofer. No idea how they get that sound out of such small speaker. I grew up on fairly high end, big non-powered speakers and vinyl, and these have way better separation and depth and clarity.

I've been testing several powered monitors for my Kawai digital piano. None of the many top-name 5" monitors satisfied -- until I tried the Rockville APM5C's. I was blown away by the natural clarity and depth of these speakers. I had purchased a 3-party subwoofer to go along with them -- it was not even needed. The APM5’s provide that perfect uniform ‘balance’ between the lows, mids and highs that I’ve been looking for, with a truly accurate low-end. I can close my eyes while playing my digital piano through these speakers and would swear I'm playing an acoustic piano. And the bonus, not to mention the price, is the physical beauty of the wood grained version of these. Even my wife says "they're pretty sexy"! Can't beat that! Anyone looking for that natural sound for instrumentation, I highly recommend these!

I didn't choose these speakers for their price point. After being frustrated with a perpetual backorder on some similar speakers from Fluance I started looking for other options. I couldn't find anything comparable that I believed could satisfy me, then I saw these 5.25 Rockvilles. The specs sounded like something in the price range of the top end brands, but the price made them sound too good to be true. BUT contrary to the usual thinking these are THAT GOOD and reasonably priced too. So you can't connect by Bluetooth; if you really want hi-fidelity sound, do you really think a wireless connection is important?I am amazed by the look, feel of these quality US built speakers and blown away by the sound. They are almost too much for my office/man cave but amazingly enough they sound just as good at lower volumes and let me tell you they are awesome when you crank the V. The bass is strong, and well-balanced with the crystal clear highs and mids, not to be confused with the kind of bass that rattles all of the windows in the neighborhood. If that's all you are looking for, you could add a sub and still spend less than you will for most of the well known brands of high quality bookshelf speakers, and for me, a sub is not needed, and isn't that the point of a full range set of bookshelf speakers?Rockville 5.25" 2-Way 250W Active/Powered USB Studio Monitor Speakers Pair (APM5C) are some of the best speakers that I have ever owned, period.

I read a few reviews on these Rockville APM5C Monitors and most comments range fromjust OK to really great. I can say these are well worth the price. They do have a white noise/hisswhen you try to blast the volume but that can be avoided, turn them down!?? Cause these speakersare loud and surprisingly clear so once you have a good balance in your room, with your setup it'sall good in the neighborhood maaann!!! I like em!!!

Got the speaker with 5 inch driver.Update 11/7/17After a bit more break in period, the highs actually sounds really good. It's not accentuated like in many more consumer grade speakers, but it is crisp. Depending on your preferences, you might actually like this more natural sounding highs. For long listening session, it's less fatiguing.Original BelowI think for the price this pair of speakers are amazing. I feel like they sound better... way better than my Bose 1SR and Vizio 5.1 after that. To me they have the right amount of bass (tight and low, not boomy), and good very detailed mids. A the output is very balanced, there is clear and good separation between instruments as well as imaging. Now the criticism... I think the highs don't roll off quite as well as other known brands like Bose and JBL. I The mids and lows in these speakers are JBL like, but the top end is missing a bit of sparkle. Don't get me wrong, the treble rings clear, but very short and soft, compared to the mids and base. It feels like the speaker hits the right high notes, but can't reach the right amplitude or hold it as long as I'd like, to produce that crystal clear high. Changing the amplifier to boost the top end 4db ended up messing the mids that makes vocals sound shrill (not unlike playing tape on fast forward). The best setting to me is to keep the treble and base at neutral on these speakers and enjoy it for what it is. It sounds more than good enough.Grades... no audiophile, but if I were to grade it vs. the other equipments I had before, Onkyo 7.1 was a C- (bass was fat and muddy), Bose 1SR c- (clear highs and tight base, but the mid is a jumbled mess, poor separation. I also like the notes it plays, I just think it keeps playing the same notes that end up being rather fatiguing), the Vizio was a bit of an improvement a good c+. The rockville speakers so far is a good B+ to A-. For reference my JBL synchros 700 cans is the closest thing to an A to me.
