I think this is a great rock pick hammer. I was able to pick a few rocks easily with this. You should probably wear protective lenses as there was some blow back from the rocks when hammering down.

Unfortunately, this deserves a negative review. The workmanship seems poor and so does the quality. I would be concerned about safety while using this because the hammer head could fly off the handle. The one I received looked like it was used. The price, ~$16 seems too high for what you get, so you may be better off looking for alternatives among Amazon's vast selection. I will update this review if needed based on further experience.

Very well built rock hammer. I'm a rock hound and I love looking for precious gems and minerals. This hammer feels perfect in my hand. The grip is built to stop vibrations from making it to your hand while striking rock.Love the comfortable grip and balance of the hammer. This is the best rock hammer I have used. The metal on the pick end is strong and holds up well when busting up rock.Look forward to years of fun with hammer.I honestly thing this is a good buy.* Not a toy!Very highly recommended for all you Rock Hounds!

Purpose for Product: Geological exploration in the Great High Desert Mountains.Product Inspection: Typical rock hammer design made of steel, fiberglass and rubberish handle. Metal work is lacking that "professional" finish. Sharp point, be careful. The seller advertises this hammer as a masonry hammer, maybe, just not in my world.Product Performance: I have several rock hammers of the expensive premium grade models that have been in use for many years. They have all held up under tremendous pounding and occasionally need resharpening, just the way it is. This seller claims a 70% reduction in impact vibration due to its handle design and materials. From decades of using this style hammer, I doubt the claims unless they have some research and testing. This is off-season for exploration and this hammer will be stored with the others until spring when it will get a dramatic testing as it will be used as a "sacrificial" hammer. Often, we will use one hammer more as a chisel and pound the top end with another hammer to exert the force necessary to expose the rock structure. That "sacrificial" hammer takes a beating from both ends resulting in a shortened life span but helps extend the life of the "premium" hammer.Summary: The price-point and acceptable manufacturing of this hammer makes it budget and use friendly. Found no real defects. NOTE: The price makes this hammer attractive to use as what we call a "never coming back" hammer. Meaning: there is always someone who needs to "borrow" one and they forget where it came from, always happens.

This is a great rock hammer, perfect for your rock hunting / geology kit.The hammer is comfortable to hold, but it does have a weight to it.The hammer is a single piece tool, and is especially sturdy and should last a lifetime. This is perfect for rockhounds! It has a flat end and a pick end. The handle is comfortable. There's an etching along the side which says "Geological Exploration".Recommended !

This is a solid built rock pick with a great handle... very comfortable and non-slip. The balance is good, and the overall weight feels right. The metal work on the hammer head is a little sloppy but doesn’t affect the functionality.

The pointed tip makes it ideal for precise strikes on brick and stone, while the shock-reduction handle ensures a comfortable, vibration-free grip. Its sturdy construction and balanced weight make it highly efficient for both professional masons and DIY enthusiasts.
