Gave it 1 star because 0 star was not offered as an option. This bagel slicer actually smashes the bagel down before it does any cutting. When it finally does cut, it's only because of the sheer force I apply. And even then, it leaves the surface all crumbly instead of a smooth slice.

The blade is a weird wavy serrated edge but it wasn't sharp enough. It just smashed the bagel. And it was difficult to clean.

It was difficult to fit a bagel into the holder. I had to compress it to make it fit. The cutter only served to squash the bagel and not cut it cleanly. I returned the one I purchased. Don't waste your money on this product.

I purchased this bagel cutter so I would not cut my hands cutting bagels in half. When I used this to cut my bagels, it literally tore them apart, making them unusable. I tried again by cutting one bagel halfway, then turning it around to cut the rest of it. Tore up that bagel too. This product does not work and is a waste of money. I will be returning it.
