Slicer is too small to hold bagel. It will not slice!!

Was unsure of purchasing this do to some of the negative reviews, but happy I went through with it. I have been using this cutter daily in the mornings and it always gets the job done. I am not experiencing it squishing the bagels.

I wanted to be "wowed" by this, but I wasn't.PROS: sturdy on the counter, with a comfortable grip; accommodates larger bagels; protective shield is a plus.CONS: the blade has a harder time cutting through softer bagels (the pressure ends up squishing them at the top) and, despite the base, THERE IS NO ACTUAL BOTTOM -- meaning, when you lift up the unit, you have a bunch of bagel crumbs on the counter. I don't know if this idea was to save on materials or weight (shipping costs) or both, but it would have been better to have an actual bottom where you could just invert the base and dump the crumbs right into the trashcan. Seems someone did not think that part through.

The blade is not sharp and when you push it into the bagel it just smashes the whole bagel down to the bottom of the holder and doesn’t slice through. I do not recommend this product.
