I replaced another towbar about 15-20 years old. This is a big improvement.

This is my second RV Road master unit. After reviewing the connection and disconnection from tow vehicle. I notice mayor improvement in design and easy of use, Roadmaster is very easy to work with.1 big draw back is always in the price increase.

They sent way more parts than we needed which really confused us. I had to wait the weekend and call the company on Monday to find out what we were doing wrong. The technician replied, "oh you don't need those parts".... huh? I had an auto mechanic install the tow baseplate and we did a trial hook up, and it didn't match up. The company included the crossbar and all the bolts, etc for that part of the installation and our baseplate did not require the cross bar. The tech tells me-- people just sell the extra parts. These things weigh A LOT. Who wants to ship them?? So we got it all figured out and the hardware set up works fine with our vehicles. But what a project!!!

I have been using an Eagle 5000 tow bar for 15+ years and I must say the Roadmaster 576 is the best gift I've ever given myself! I didn't realize how much work it was to connect and disconnect my Jeep Wrangler with the old tow bar assembly until I started using the Roadmaster 576. If you are using an older tow bar assembly I highly suggest upgrading. I wish I had done this sooner. I no longer have to make sure the Jeep and motor home are perfectly aligned or on a completely flat surface to connect or disconnect. With a flip of two levers the Roadmaster releases itself. No more binding, hitting the assembly with a rubber mallet or having a second person hold one side of the tow bar to disconnect. Watch the video from RV Geeks and you can see how easily this tow bar works. I've used this with my Jeep Wrangler and My Jeep Grand Cherokee.

We feel Roadmaster makes the best and easiest tow bar on the market. I am a woman and have no issues setting it up alone. Our first Sterling lasted 13 + years and would have continued I'm sure had it not been left out in the elements unprotected for too long while being stored. This new one looks and works great! A few enhancements in the last decade make it even easier now. I was a little worried ordering online. But it arrived quickly, we'll packed and perfect! Thanks to Roadmaster and Amazon!

Very well-made, strong and secure. Towed our 2007 FJ Cruiser from Florida to Alaska without a hitch. (Bad pun - couldn't resist). Super easy to connect/disconnect and this model has an 'All Terrain' safety feature to help control the pressure on the system (think weight) released from the tow bar (TB) when disconnecting. Haven't used a steel model but this aluminum version was heavy; can't imagine the felt weight of the steel version. If you are towing >6,000# you'll need the steel tow bar. There are 3 major components needed for the RoadMaster set-up: the tow bar, interconnect bar, and vehicle mount kit. The interconnect bar is included with the TB as seen in the pic and mates between the TB and the vehicle mount kit. The mount kit has to be purchased separately to match the vehicle being towed (Toad). Also, most every state require a brake controller, brake and license plate lights. It is much safer to use a proportional brake controller ($$), required or not.Towing a vehicle safely ain't cheap ~ several grand. Just make sure you don't skimp on safety to save a few bucks only to find during a descent down a rainy 11% grade at night approaching Ouray clocking past 60mph that perhaps you needed a stronger towing system as you watch your Toad overtake you.My Toyota FJ didn't use the interconnect bar because I had previously installed an Expedition One aftermarket bumper with HD shackle mounts welded to the bumper frame at the same width as the interconnect bar attach points. The bumper is a huge hunk of welded steel far stronger and more robust than the interconnect bar. Interestingly, the bumper's mount plate which bolts to the FJ's frame, was the exact piece supplied with the ~ $250 vehicle-specific mount kit. I compared both pieces and verified with the bumper manufacturer that they did indeed used vendor-supplied steel mount plates unique to the FJ (duh) and of course, so did the folks who sold the TB mount kit. Reasonable. Safe. The vehicle mount kit, if you don't have a super cool bumper, bolts to the Toad's frame out of sight behind the stock bumper with only two pins protruding out of the bumper to which the interconnect bar is attached. Then, the TB's two telescoping arms attach to the interconnect bar along with the two safety cables, air line for brakes, and the emergency brake triggering cable connected to the tow vehicle and toad. The safety cables are supplied w/TB and the brake line and emergency brake trigger cable come with the brake kit that is purchased separately ($$). I highly recommend the 'Air Force One' proportional brake system if your TV has air brakes as my Fleetwood Discovery 40X does. So: Tow vehicle's 2" receiver
