They are not for small flys. Would be OK for big streamers. in the time it takes to put a fly on it, you could have tied two knots!

First it cuts down on tapered leader purchases. Tie a cinch on a new tippit and you are ready to go again. Saves time. The primary benefit is that your streamer is looking natural when it hits the water. Line twist is worked out in the swivel instead of unnaturally twisting your streamer. I’ve caught a 40 pound Striper in the salt and countless Trout, Steelhead and maybe a dozen Chinook and Coho Salmon. No swivel has failed me so far.
